Thread: Unbuffed and unarmoured
I do this for most creatures, though when i enter a cave i prefer to have a buff and maybe some armor.
JBMat wrote:Buffs = Doctor BuffsArmor = armorI generally don't use either. Too cheap to pay for doc buffs, really too cheap to wear out armor in two days of fighting. How can I go to Endor, take on level 40 mobs and survive? Simple, I don't get hit, well much. Master Pistoleer, so I can draw one beastie at a time (usually, but the freaking bordoks like to swarm). I use a droid as a tank. His name is "tank" and that's his job.I do use brandy and accargarm (sp) for mind and action buffs - cheap, and it lasts thru at least one mission set, sometimes a set and a half. I also can heal myself to a point. The trick is not getting hit. I have several posts on tactics so I am not going to blabber about it more. Simply put, know yourself, your weapons, your shortcomings, the terrain and most importantly, what you are hunting. For ranged people, unarmored is no mean feat. It's the lack of doc buffs that has added to my cash flow lately. As I write this my toon sits on Endor, waiting for reboot, to do at least 2 if not 3 mission sets. The xp and harvest are just too good to ignore.JB
My thoughts exactly. A smart player can do "normal" things without the need for buffs or armor. Bleed pulling is something that seems to escape most people. It isn't a perfect way to pull but works for me 90% of the time. I do classify buffs as doctor and/or musician buffs-since I'm an alcoholic, drug using, eating disorder having, gun toting, loner. I have a set of Ubese that I carry around but rarely use-its not even sliced so that should be an indication of how often I use it and how much I rely on it. Those of us that go at it unbuffed may not be going in and spamming /pointblankarea1 to take out rancors, but we-or atleast I-think we're doing pretty good.
Tanks are a wonderful thing. I used to have a probot-everybody did at that point-and was anti critter. But after the bots got slammed I turned to critters and slowly adopted the way and have to admit I've grown to like a couple of my pets. I hear bots got some power back, but I enjoy having my harvester out so I don't see myself getting a combat bot.

I havethree questions for all you armour shunning folks. I have got a bandolier, shirt, jacket and pants (from two different BE Clothing vendors) with +4 melee +16 stun on each item.
1) Can I get any other items of clothing (gloves, boots, hat, belt) with + melee defence
2) Can I getgarments with both +melee defence and + bleeding resistance
3) I see some garments with Combat Bleeding Resistance and some with Bleeding Resistance, what is the difference between these?
basically is boils down to this....
- Rangers, as a rule, don't whine and make due with what they have, ALL of what they have.
- Rangers are a more patent lot. We have to be.

yep - this is my strategy as well. With /maskscent or camo and /prone, you get a lot of free shots before the creature even sees you. For small to mediumthings, I don't use specials, just auto fire. For bigger things, specials (mostly headshot3). For the bigger things I, like JB,have a tank droid standing by in case I run out of pool points, get agro'ed etc....
But like Fred said - this requires a lot more patience. You can pretty much kill the same sorts of things that you can buffed, but not as quickly. If you're using specials, you're going to spend a lot of time waiting for your stats to regenerate unless you have some medic. Camps help here though, as they decrease the amount of time it takes your stats to regenerate.
Oh also, at rifleman and master ranger my melee defense is pretty high - I think I get 10 from master ranger and some overly large amount from rifleman as well...

3. looked around on some of the skill enhancement guides and could not find a definitive answer... apparently combat bleeding defense bonuses are given by the BE cloths, the other is done by skill tapes... according to the publish 6 patch notes, bleeding resistance should now be working, but nobody is entirely sure if that applies to both of these mods or just one...
