Thread: *Gulp* Frontiering IV looms large..

I only have Wayfaring 4 and Frontiering 4 to fill before I achieve the coveted title of "Master Ranger".

Why does that one box of Frontiering 4 seem like a mountain the size of Everest?

Any high traffic areas you all have found that makes experience easier to come by with camping?

Any tips to get this last mountain climbed would be appreciated.

There's several ways you can increase your XP gain.

  • Open camp as close to a start town as possible. Lots of newbies will go "oooo, aaaaa" when they see the FBK for the first time, free XP if they stick around for a bit.

  • Find some really high level NPC's/Monsters and agro as many as possible. Let them beat you to death 2-3 times and request the closest Clone center when you die. Do this untill all your HAM bars are black. Now go camp, you'llhit the cap of your camp at +/- 10 minutes.

  • Sample. The difference is small, but as long as your regenerating any of your HAM bars the XP will go slightly faster.

  • You can also head to one of the POI like Fort Tusken and try attracting players that way.

  • Buy some woundpacks and /tell people you see running by with wounds you'll heal them in your camp.

That's about it, you'll be facing a grind no doubt but this makes it slightly faster.

another idea is to set up camp north of the Lok starport, people are running out that way constantly, those extra people running through your camp help a lot.

Here is what I have found to be able to get -

1. Max scouting xp for harvesting

2. Max hides/meat/bone for sale

3. Decent survival xp

Get a group of 4 - 2 good shooters, you and a decent medic. Get thee to Dantooine. Bring good weapons, powerups, and stims. Take missions in the lower range first, then as you get a feel for the beasties, the higher range.

In merely only just 2 hours last nite, I got well over 2k in hides, (Allizian will be thrilled) 2k in meat (Fenen makes the best freaking stims I can find) and a load of bone. Made somewhere over 10k creds for the missions. Not to mention the 15K in scout xp from harvesting. That's right, 15k in 2 hrs. I also boosted my survival skills by 3+k, 3 total camps when we had to, no excuses, camp. And I rather impressed a few people with the p-darts, the flares and the sonic pulses.

Oh yeah, I had one heck of a good time too. The quips and comments alone were worth the trip.

Can't wait to go again, I can see master ranger

I just hit Frontiering II and hitting III looks like it will take a very long time. I did 20k in Frontiering last night in about 7 hours (I was studying for finals and had nothing better to do but camp) solo. I was making about 1000 xp in 20 minutes. At that rate it would take me about 21 hours to get III... and much longer to get IV.

The thing that sucks (and doesn't make sense) is that my new camp doesn't use any hides or bones... even though it has a canopy that seems to be made from hides... so now I have to get lots of metals and chems before I unlearn my artisan line.

It is indeed a large amount of XP to go.

But the final camp is worth it.

I finally got Frontier IV last night "Frontiersman" and boy oh boy the camp is worth waiting to see. No spoilers unless people really want to know. If so, come to Eclipse and look me up, I'll set you up in a camp. I'm usually on Dathomir ridding that world of the Nightsister population.

Now I can't wait for the new Ranger changes to be put into the game. Those sound really cool.

For the final leg of frontiering IV I was chasing medics around on Lok who, at the time, were sampling for wheat. I would drop a field base on top of them and heal them with stims while they surveyed. It went by pretty fast and they enjoyed both the heals and the company. It got to the point where I had an average of 3-4 medics in my camp at any given time just hanging out. They would grind at the station, get xp from healing others and it was actually pretty fun. We all got xp out of the deal and made some new friends while we did it.

As a person who has 3 points left for Frontiering 4 and Master Ranger that would truely ruin my sense of proudness when I do achieve the (previously thought to bealmost impossible) barrier of camp XP.

I am 35k away from frontiering 4... and it still seems like a mountain

I say dont stoop to using a macro though.. I have yet to do it... survival exp comes slow but it still comes and I will feel much better about when I finally do reach it

I do go afk in my camps at times (to make dinner or troll the boards) but not overly often

try setting up close to a starter town as suggested above... people will stop and ooo and aaaa over them and that helps... when I do that I try to set up far enough out of town that people headed for town with wounds/damage will choose to stop instead of going to town (make or buy some cheap stim and wound packs and help them heal up... as then they will be more willing to return)
