The list of propossed changes to rangers is great!, but some tend to be morehelpful for range/ranger and not so for melee/rangers. So what traps, camps, or skills should be added?

I think traps that did DOT(damage over time) orslowed movement would be useful. a hunters camp that would aid meleers would be great, hunter's blind may do this but don't think it will.

Traps:

FireGlue - a placed trap that does DOT to creatures, NPC humanoids, lairs andNPC mission structures, with a 8sec timer

Wire Snare - a placed trap that weakens melee defence and slows movement

Decoy - Tries to pull argo off you (likely only useful when attacked by several NPCs.)

melee hunter's Camp - ? faster movement ? Argo reduction ? dodge or melee hit bonus ?

Any ideas?

I think one of the things that would benefit melee rangers as well as ranged would be a bonus to hit / damage coming out camo. that way we too can take advantage of crawling up to a mob or it walking over to us. its like the scene in rambo where he is all covered in mud and you see the eyes open and the knife come out. anyway, just a potential change that would be very nice to melee and help ranged as well. most games that implement a stealth or camo mode have a suprise attack bonus, or a critical strike that is more damaging than a typical attack.

the decoy would be kind of cool too, espeically for use with a trip wire. i definitely see how cool a trip wire will be but for some reason i do not want to be getting shot the whole time while they are chasing me over it.

a lure would definitely help, being able to draw aggro creatures away from a camp is kind of a pain, espcially social ones. a way of defeating social mobs one by one without using mesh would be nice.

i'm a pkiman/ranger, and from what i've learned.......melee doesnt go with ranger.

well...actually...melee doesnt go with anything

try to group hunt a kimo/dark jedi master...or real high lvl stuff

you'll know there's no trap nor buff can help you stay alive

i was going to give up ranger(4, 3, 4, 4), but with all the fun stuff coming soon...i may have to give up my pikeman skills....

so sad they just wont work together

That's a function of trying to fight stuff that's too far above your level, not the factthat melee and ranger don't work together. I have no problems tanking for my groups but then again I don't tank the stuff that does 2k damage a hit either. Frankly if it weren't for the CH's uber pets tanking and the TK's knocking down the uber mobs and winning, we would all recognize the uber mobs for what they are, uber. The overpowered professions have trivialized what should be very hard encounters.

Hey, if you like the idea of a pikeman/ranger, I say stay with it. Holocron will see to it that the overpowered classes get back in line with the rest of us and it'll all be good. Don't just move away from what you like to play or envision yourself playing just because of the current state of imbalance.

Id like to see something called 'Lure' .. where a ranger can walk up to a group of social mobs, and pull one away without its friends following.

I can see this being implemented later on for sure, if not soon.

Uh... Yes... Wouldn't that be a wonderful skill to have.

Guess what? We're getting a trap that does just that. You should read the Ranger Coorespondent Feedback post.

WoW! I really like this idea. I do think melee should a big bonus then range because they need to get closer and are taking more risk. So if they could factor in range that would be great, so if you attack 0-5 range you get 100% of the bonus, but at 30 you get 50% and at 60 range 0%. I'm not sure if this should go with /mask scent or /conceal?

As a fencer soon-to-be-ranger myself, I think we should bump this thread often so it gets read as much as possible.

I like the idea of a "Suprise Attack" bonus when previously concealed. Definitely adds a little more spice to an already excellent ability.
