Thread: Get good Camping XP

Hey All:

Whetheryou're by yourself or with a party of people each time you make camp have everyone run in and out of camp as much as they can without passing out from getting dizzy. This will vastly increase the number of visitors to your camp, which increases earned XP. If CH has a couple pets he can tow in and out they count as visitors.

Also drop your camps anytime someone needs a heal. Just have a couple camps in your toolbar. I have a toolbar filled with them and drop one every time we stop.

If someone has pets that need healing drop camp immediately. Filling their huge ham bars helps immensely.

If you need to go AFK for xp do it in ahigh traffic area, like the route between Anchorhead and Bestine to Wayfar. You'd be surprised how many people are hauling through the flatlands. I did this while I was sleeping for eight hours and camp had 400 visitors.

In any case, I guess the camping XP is the Ranger version of medical crafting and combat xp. It's the only thing that keeps people from FLYING to master.

take auto-logoff option off and then make macro for /sit;/pause 200;/stand;/pause 200;/sit;/pause 200, ad infinitum....

Hmmm, so you reset your camp every 200 seconds? Doesn't seem like you would get much xp that way. Also, how can you deploy a camp when the other one isn't disbanded?

Sorry, I'm just confused. hehe

I misread that, but still... i can keep it so that I don't auto log-off... but my camps auto-disband in about an hour it seems.

I thought you had a macro to keep deploying camps over and over, and I just can't figure out how that would work.

I'm fairly certain that while having the same people run repeatedly in and out of your camp does increase the visitor count on the little PDA device, it doesn't actually increase the xp. It's the number of unique visitors that affects xp.

Ypiana, that tactic you use with dropping down camps everytime you stop, is robbing other scouts for their XP if you are in a group. We picked up a guy who did this last night, everytime we stopped he dropped down a camp, everytime we killed a creature, he had his harvestmacro ready. This lead to the huntingparty being disbanded.

IMO, the tactic you describe is highly egoistic.

Also I cannot understand what the fun is of gaining xp when you are afk...where is the fun?

Well, I wouldn't rip on Yp so much. I don't think the implication is to start "ninja" camping with other rangers/scouts in the group, at least that's not how I took it. In fact, I don't care if someone already made a camp when I'm grouping, I'll take the opportunity to make one as well and will move the min distance away and start my own. Now that ninja harvesting is being handled, camping will be the sole competition thing. Just group with civilized people that will take turns, or just do what I described.

And Yp said that xp while afk is stupid. Actually, *I'm* the one advocating that. I often afk sample while in a camp, as close to the town as possible. Why not? Actually, I place my camp at the foot of the bridge, south of Theed. This way I get a ton of traffic going through it, all oooh'ing and ahhhh'ing at my cool camp. Perfectly valid strategy.

If I could find a good way to re-deploy my camps all day long while at work or sleeping, i'd do it. But even when I'm sampling in my camp, it disappears after an hour or so, so still not sure how Yp kept the camp up for 8 hours. I guess I could put a long enough pause in my macro so that I'm sure the camp has auto-disbanded and set up some hotkeys. I may try that .

Maybe I am mistaken but don't the camps have XP caps? Meaning, if you don't disband and rebuild a camp don't you only go to X amount of xp that the camp can gain then you have to rebuild the camp to get more? Please correct me if I'm mistaken. I can build the "small" field base camps currently as a ranger and wether I sit there for 20 mins or an hour I don't seem to accumulate more than about 1100 XP.

Good to know. Makes sense, but its good to be reminded of this. Er, not to sound like a total dweeb, but how do I turn off the Autologoff option? Haven't seen that anywhere, and if its an INI option does anyone have a list of things that can be changed in the initialization files?

Thanks in advance,

Jeet

He's talking about the "auto-afk" option in the AFK options menu. And i have tried this personally with my pets, and it does NOT increase the xp to have more of the same people visit your camp. It only counts if unique people visit. And every camp auto-disbands in 50-55 minutes no matter what.

Yeah... auto disband happens. That is why i was so confused in my original response (2nd post). I've never heard of one camp being up for 8 hours. So I assumed that camps were being reset by a macro, but who knows.

And whoever said, they were correct too. You reach a maximum xp at some point, so sitting in one camp for too long will not yield any more xp from that one camp. I re-deploy a camp about every 10 minutes if I have people hanging out, every 20 minutes or so if it's just me with no wounds.

Well anytime there is another scout or anyone who can harvest or make camp in my party I ALWAYS coordinate camp drops and harvesting.

I hate selfish people and NEVER ninja anything.

Just FYI
