Fellow rangers:
I've been reading and infrequently posting on these boards for a few weeks as I have worked through deciding whether to pursue ranger or squad leader.
I've literally just now made my decision, and I would like to formally introduce myself to the community. Name's Idaki Ead'Tah of Kettemoor, home planet Talus. And I'm a ranger.
It's been a tough decision. Even after the bowl-you-over dev response of a few days ago, I continued to waffle. I'm a community-oriented kind of player and squad leader, despite its current failings, has always been appealing because of the group role it necessarily plays. And although it's pathetically weak now, I believe the devs are going to give that profession just as much love as they've given ranger and make it the force it was originally envisioned to be.
But going through these boards again today, I realized that the scouting/ranger community truly is the best in the game, and I'm proud to be a part of it. Despite enduring a poorly designed release skill set, weak tools and frustrating silence from the developers, rangers have for the most part kept their cool and tried to work together to improve their profession instead of bickering amongst themselves and with everyone else. And while I'm fairly twitching to get into one of those hunting blinds or lay out some silly imp with a trip wire, all those upcoming goodies are just icing on an already pretty tasty cake.
This is going to be fun.
