Thread: Alertness useful?

I have to admit that scout/ranger is definitely my favorite profession that I've tried, but one complaint I have, that I haven't seen addressed, has to do with spawning and alertness

If I am running through the wilderness with a group and I'm scouting ahead we cannormally avoid any potential aggressive creatures that we don't want to deal with. However sometimes they don't show up on radar until we are almost on top of them, does alertness really help with this? The kicker is when they spawn as we run past. Could there be a modificationthat lets us know ahead of time that creatures are spawning somewhere, so as we don't end up in the middle of four or fivecon-red, group aggro creatureswith no advanced warning? Then the more alert we are the more warning we have?

Not a big deal, but just something that bothers me sometimes, bug fixes are definitely more important, and there are many other great ideas like the ghillie suit.

Sometimes its server related. Lag and whatnot. But also, look at the terrain you're running on. I've noticed many times that if you don't have a clear line of sight on mobs that are for instance on the other side of a big hill, you wont be able to know they are there till you get close.

This always happens to me. Especially when coming to a mission waypoint. I'll see the waypoint 300 meters out on my CTRL-M map. Then at 128m it enters my radar. Then I can actually see the spot where the waypoint is sitting and still nothing spawns until I'm like 50m out. For a rifleman this is way to close. My theory is that the server is just doesn't have areas populated where players are and since that area is barren it doesn't use its processing power to populate it until someone is actually in the area. If this is correct then that range for world population needs to be increased. BUT, this would probably slow down the servers and your connection.

I think mission spawns are treated differently.
