Thread: What happened to Polymer?

Why was the polymer taken out of the Ranger bases? Polymer components made perfect sense in the creation of these hightech camps. Heck! Add polymer to the High Quality Camp as well! It looks like it requires some!

Polymer in our bases made us dependant on outside professions for our supplies and was a logical component given the nature and appearance of Field Base and High Tech Field Base.

Was the polymer removed to make up for adding the artisan harvested Floral componet to the camouflage kits? If so that makes even less sense.

Why remove a perfectly reasonable artisan gathered component and replace it with a componet that we should be able to Forage for ourselves?

Was it so that we would have more items that we need outside help to make? We already relied on artisans to supply us with metal and polymer for our camps, bases andtraps not to mention (undertsandably) our guns and cloths and armor and foodstuffs (our unstackable foraged foods are only good for feeding pets). Now it appears that we ar going to have to look to them to make our camo kits and, most likely, our upcoming Ranger traps as well.

That leaves us only being able to make Scout tools without artisan aid.

My point is, I don't mind using artisan harvested or made items (I AM an Artisan for Pete's sake!)for some of our trade tools, but please have them make logical and reasonable sense.

I dont even mind that they take an obscene amount of resources for a short lived and unreliable item. I just want them to make sense and hopefully make my Forage ability more worthwhile.

I feel like I am in the Bizzaro universe sometimes.

having to have polymer for camps stinks big time. The other requirements were buffed with the exclusion of polymer. We still need Steel and quite a bit of it. But i have novice artisan and plenty of harvesters... ill find my own steel thank you very much. heck, i can find my own plymer too if i have to.

Dont ask yourself too many quesitons about how the camps are made with the ingredients they're made with (like how is there a potted tree in my camp?).... just enjoy the camp and its coolness.

Why would you consciencely substitute an illogical method for a very logical component?

How does requiring polymer in in the Field Bases stink anymore that requiring woodsy, masters of the wild, Rangers to go buy flora from an artisan. Shouldn't someone versed in Wilderness Survival be able to find his own wood and weeds?

And why would you pass up the opprotunity to make our Forage skill usefull?

At least the Bases look like they would be made of metal and petrochemicals... something has to be powering those hovering lawn chairs and binding those steel girders! I sure dont think it's animal hides! If it is, we need to be marketing pelts as a new formof energy!

na, I agree with Ki. The new camps will probably make this even more realistic. If the HQ, FB and HTFB get "modules" like we were discussing it would make perfect sense. I can see a reduction in the amounts to compensate, but as I always say; don't suspend belief for game balance. You CAN balance AND make it seems like it it should be that way. All Ranger camps seem to look like some bone and hide are in there, maybe the same as the multi-person amounts. All Ranger camps also look like they need Metal and Poly as well. Perhaps where we differ is how much.

I carry around harvestors and drop them on my travels sometimes. I'm sometime lazy and buy stuff from the Bazaar (if it's a good price I can't match by harvesting myself). I'm covered if the Bazaar don't have what I need and if it does. I'm not an artisan ether. I'd like to have hides and bone left over to sell to Armoursmiths. If I can't do that, they will get Scout for themselfs because no one will be selling hides.I really don't see the problem here...

I am not a Ranger, but my friend is. I totally agree with the polymer thing. In fact since I run a small mining business I stockpiled thousands of units for her to use when she made it to that level. Now she has made it, and no longer needs the resource. I pride myself in being able to help people out by introducing them to ones theyneed skills from. I was able to set up two contracts for anArtisan so he could supply a few Rangers just this week. I mean, that's what Underworld Connections should be about. The game itself is all about interactions, hence the multiplayer name in the title. If you canbuild all yourown items and weapons, heal yourself in body and mind, and solo all your missions, then perhaps SOE should take this game offline and give us a bunch of NPCs to interact with.

- Totally agree... This one was a shocker when I noticed it after the patch.

- I mean...Plastic is a polymer. I can understand the higher endcamps using plastics (the plant is probably a plastic plant ).

- How everything in the FB and HTFB are made from hides and bone is beyond my understanding. But its the future, and those crafting tools can do wonders can't they?

- Ah well... People complained about it, and it was changed.
