Thread: For those complaining about camo kit costs...

Just stop already, news flash: if you cant afford the kits you are doing something wrong. I've read at least one of these posts everyday since they added them, I'm sick of the whining. Don't confuse your laziness with something that is hard to obtain, because either you're too lazy to run a few missions to pay for what you need, or you're too lazy to buy a micro flora and set it up for a couple days. Heck you dont even need to run a wind/solar since you can just buy the power for it. Making money for a ranger isn't hard, at all. By this point you should have at least one decent weapon skill and be able to get some decent paying missions. If you can't complete those missions, well.....maybe you're in the wrong class. Sorry if this post is harsh but its the truth. I could make 50k if I wanted to without ever leaving Talus and have enough materials to do a factory run of 100 kits every other day, but you're right they're really hard to come by......

Changes will come in any game/class, you either adapt and move on, or come to the boards and whine everyday. This was the one board free of that, hopefully it ends soon. Enough already.

One of the purposes of the boards provided by Sony is for us to communicate to SOE with feedback on recent changes, and requests for future changes.

Many of the posts regarding the material used in the camo kits have been well thought out, intellegently presented, logical, and without harsh tones and threats of quitting. If a few posts sneak in that are a result of frustration or anger, just don't read those then. Rather than offending people who have posted their opinions on the recent changes on the camo kits by calling them whiners and not welcomed at the boards, why don't you just post why you think the kits are a good idea and leave out the insults.

That was one thread Japhy, its the same few guys that are unhappy with the kits and have made the intelligent posts. The people I'm referring to are the ones that have crawled out of the woodwork and been complaining daily on these boards since the patch. I doubt posts like "/conceal is garbage" are the well thought out discussion SOE is looking for. The problem is most of the guys who have no problems generally dont even post here, theyre in there playing the game and enjoying it. Which is pretty much the same for me, except I play a lot in the mornings so I usually browse the boards during the resets. This wasnt a post about whether theyre great or not, or how well they work, its directly about the so-called "exorbitant cost" of the camo packs, but to be helpful here's an example that happened to me this weekend:
I needed to setup a flora on Yavin to collect fungus for the camo kits, having no art skills and all my friends that do not being online, I gave a quick shout in the bank/cantina area saying I would pay a surveyor for their services. I got a quick reply from a new player who didnt have a ton of skills but had the necessary tools. I provided him with the tickets to Yavin and we found a spot pretty quickly, I also paid him 1k for his services. I dropped some maint in the harvester and the power I brought with and I'll go back in a few days and collect the needed resources. Now, the guys who have been complaining about the camo cost will point out right away that it just cost me 10k to setup a harvester for those kits and thats ridiculus, etc., etc. Personally, I had some fun (I was already there so why not hunt some), I made a new friend, helped out a new player (we all know how hard money is to come by when you start, he literally had about 2 hours of gametime in), and got the resources I needed (Ended up going back the next day with a group and was able to keep everyone camo'ed up for the day). My whole point was that I'm just sick of everyone screaming that they may have to shell out a few bucks or, god forbid, speak with another player, to get the things they need for a camo pack. Instead they get disgusted after an hour and come here screaming and yelling, its not constructive and its not helpful. Whether I insult them or not really doesnt matter since trolls will be trolls, oh gee I have one star what a shocker.

I agree, I get tired of hearing all of the complaints myself. I needed wood for my kits on Rori, started yelling in base if anyone had any (there was non on sale on the planet). Found an artisian who had some, went to the bank and made a trade/purchase for the desired material. Sure, a little inconveinent, but more fun than running static missions all the time. Get to go ona real hunt that actually makes a difference in my game play. And, make a few new freinds as we well.

I think you miss the point of the complaints. I think these new camo kits are a complete mess and it has nothing to do with needing to run a harvestor. The harvestor is hard at first but once you find a good spot you can collect weeks worth of what you need in a few days.

The issue to me is that they use 4 specific resources from each planet. It is an organizational nightmare! It's not trivial to hop onto a planet and get the 4 items you need. You basically need to plan far in advance of any group hunts in order to get supplies. I think many people have not realized how bad this is going to be because they havent done alot of planet hopping yet And with regard to all the resources you know need to hold onto, just wait till they reintroduce insurance. As they have made it, the resource requirements for Rangers are FAR harsher than other classes. We might need less, but the vast range of items we need is far more than other classes.

And what roasts my marshmellow about this is, this is really a HUGE nerf to rangers. Before we had roughly the same ability by simply typing /maskscent. Now we need kits! It is a bonus to groupmembers for sure, but it is a huge nerf to rangers themselves.

Personally, I would be much happier if they altered the specific requirements to be a planet specific hide, bone, meat and fauna component rather that a planet specific AND resource specific componenet. Then you can assemble them much faster and easier and then if you take the time to find high OC resources you can make high charge hits. Simple when you need it fast....high quality when you have the time to put into into it.

It does need tweaking and I hope it comes soon.

Nova the things you brought up I agree with for the most part. I think it would be great if they made the res requirement a little more general i.e. planet specific bone/hide/meat/flora, as it is now we're at the mercy of the resource shift. We can still make the packs but how many you can experiment out of each one depends on the quality of items you can use. Also agree about having to carry a whole bunch of stuff around, was running into that yesterday with ingreds for Talus, Corellia, and Yavin on me. I dont think theres really a way around that though, but once you get the things you need you can make some packs and just keep them in the bank or wherever till you go where you going. So if you have an average size group you would just need to grab your pre-made camps, the flora for the planet youre heading to and head out. I don't see conceal as a nerf though, so far I have been having great success with it and the abliity to conceal others really helps out in getting through the rough areas. One strange thing, has anyone else noticed that we're more likely to break than the people we conceal, heh. Hopefully just a bug and it'll get ironed out. I've only been broken a handful of times and I was pretty much stomping on the things that aggroed so no complaints there from me.

We need a Ranger's cabin to hold all this stuff...

i say the same thing on every thread on the subject. Planet specific resources are good, camo kit effectiveness is bad. Planet specific resources creates a new market for both the resources and also factory produced experimented camo kits. It would be nice if camo kits didn't just go poof after a few animals, but it's also important to give people time to realize the market potential.A few tweaks and weeks, and you should be able to find high use camo kits on the bazaar on any planet you visit.

lol, what scared me was I ld'ed while waiting on the shuttle in Doaba and he got there before me and decided to head out and find the spot. Luckily he went to the north just a couple hundred meters where theres a see of harvestors and no mobs. I thought for sure he would be meeting me in the cloning center.

The only resource you really have to search out(for the most part, dont mention Lok ) is the flora and even then its just once a week or so depending on shifts. You can experiment the packs and should always be able to get at least 4 or 5 if not more out of it. As fo effectiveness, I dunno, some are saying it works great others it doesnt. Obviusly it needs some tweaking in that aspect. Personally they've worked great for me and its so nice not having to fight **edit** Dralls four times everytime I run out to my house. All I was saying is that acquiring the necessary flora is not some momunental task.

Just buy resources you say? Just sample some you say? I gotta question for the twit that started this post... What if you are not an Artisan ranger? What if you can find stupid dantooine berries in the ENTIRE galaxy? The purpose of ranger is a complete master of the wilderness, however to camo himself he needs to either be a ranger artisan or very patient in asking every artisan he sees for waypoints or waiting for specific flora to hit the market. I know puberty must be tough pal, but we are all with you!

What does being an artisan have to do with buying resources? Apparently I am a twit, because I cant figure this out. As for finding an artisan....you can use your keyboard for more than moving around, you can talk to the other players in the game with it. Example:

"Hi, I need a waypoint for berry fruit. I'll gladly pay you 500 credits for one that is at 65% or above"

"Sure, give me a minute or two to track one down."

"Ok, great. Thanks."

"Here you go."
/tip Artisan 500
Head to waypoint and place harvester.

You're right, that could never work :rolleyes

Can I ask a really stupid question?

Don't the newer traps and camps require Petrochem and Metal, as well as other stuff? Adhesive Mesh needs Petro and Metal. Phenacine Trap uses metal. Flash Bomb uses metal. All the Field Bases need metal.

Why should the stuff needed for camo kits generate all these complaints, yet the others do not?

Why is it I have never had a problem aquiring any of these resources?

It's all about the economy guys. Find a Miner. Set yourself up with a supplier. It's quite cool to set up business relationships in game.

Plus, if anyone has any trouble getting money, offer your services to a Bounty Hunter. They need us. I am doing quite well assisting mine. Half of every BH mission is around 2500 to 3000 credits. More than any destroy mission. We are the only class that can assist them on Marks. I know it's a lot different than doing Ranger type stuff, but now that we are hardcore trackers, add some elements to the game that will be fun and worthwhile. Every new BH needs a partner to help him with marks. It's a good source of income to buy those resources we need for camo kits!
