Thread: A Ranger Scout Vendor will it work?
- 98.0+ Fishing Poles
- Big Stacks of Fishing Bait
- Crates of Traps
- Crates of Camps, probably 5s and 25s
- Stacks of Resources
- 1K Bone @ 5cpu
- 1K Hide @ 5cpu
- 1K Metal @ 5cpu
- 1K Polymer @ 3cpu
- And some Ranger style clothing, (Fatigues, Boots, etc)
I looked around and nowhere on our server did i find anything similar to this i don't expect to do alot of busines. But i think it would be interesting to have. Has anyone tried this before? Also i figured the stacks of resources should go over well as most rangers don't need the 20K+ units of metal (which is the min on most resources vendors, usually more) that is available to them. Plus having crates of camps, would be beneficial to both Master Scouts and Master Rangers, they don't need the wilderness survival XP from crafting and would cut down on the hassle of having to craft them when they need them and would lower the clutter in their inventories.
As you said, the resources should sell pretty well. Everything esle is a novelty, BUT the clothes may do well, too. I often hoped to find a Scout/Ranger type shop, but there are very few out there. Good luck with this.

Right now ihave 2 toons, one is Ranger/Carbineer and the Other is going to be a Tailor/Armoursmith/Merchant. I was debating having setting up a vendor specifically designed to cater Rangers. Here is what i had in mind as for my wares.

+98 fishing poles.... oooooo...
Edit: And I'd buy camo kits too! I hate having to make 'em myself!

I would consider buying camo kits or resources for camo kits. If I am travelling to a planet that I don't have a kit for, I have to spend some time hunting to craft them up.

Hi - as someone who runs a ranger store that is very much like what you describe, here are my experiences:
- organic resources - you won't be able to keep them in stock; the hologrinders will buy them faster than you can put them up there -- I would say just offer them on the bazaar terminal, or use them to maintain your stocks of other items
- camps - crates of basic camps used to sell ok, but now there is about as much demand as there are for the other camps
- traps - I sell a lot of these, but not constantly -- someone who is grinding scout or ranger will come in and buy out my entire stock. Fortunately, the ones that sell the most require the least resources.
- fishing poles - these sell slowly as well, but they do sell
- fishing bait - uggh I didn't know you could stack it -- haha will have to sell this as well
- shellfish harvesting tools - same asfishing poles(consider adding these to your stock)
- ranger clothes - now this is a really cool idea - I might see if I can add some to my store
I myself don't advertise my shop much because it can sometimes be a hassle keeping it stocked, esp. when I'm trying to fill big orders, and this is why I say it might be better to divert the hide, bone, metal, and polymer you harvest to makingcrates of traps and camps. I pretty much try to keep5 crates of all of thetraps in stock, but someone recently bought a lot of stuff from me, so I need to restock again. I'm still trying tostock all of thecamps - I just need tofree myselfup for a week or so so I can harvest enough resources to do respectable factory runs.
Anyway, my store is more of a personal shrine to the joys of ranger than a serious money making venture, so I charge 2500 credits for most crates of things except for HTFB's and Adhesive mesh traps (for which I charge 5000). Also I figure that the occaisional ranger might come around and buy something, so I don't want to charge one of the seven other rangers on my server out the wazoo for stuff.
Other things you might consider adding are camo kits (you can experiment with these to raise the number of charges they have) and crafting tools (lots of people grinding ranger might need another crafting tool).
At any rate, if you want to take a look at my shop, it is located inAtlantika on Naboo, Bloodfin Server -1899 5940. You can just create a char on the server and let me know and I'll tip you enough to shuttle from theed to atlantika.
OK - good luck!

Personally I don't wear armour, and have two sets of clothing: brown camo (Tatooine, Lok) and green camo (everywhere else). It means I carry extra stuff in my pack, but I look cool whatever planet I'm on!
I've also thought about commissioning a purple/dark green duster for those Dant trips!
I did this a while ago on Tempest, before I had to take a 3 month leave of absense from SWG. I noticed that camps, and traps, sold rarely (this was pre-holo grind though). My biggest selling point, and what kept me in business, was of course, organics. I worked it like this. I bought ANY organics dropped on my vendor, guarenteed 4 cpu. If it was of a high qual, they could contact me for a better deal. This helped me greatly in keeping my vendor stocked with large stacks of grind meat, and I was out hunting for the high qual stuff. Doc's loved me for the steady supply, and BE's really, really loved me for the grind stuff.
Hope this helps.
