This is pretty standard, unfortunately.

State of the Game => Where are the Rangers?

I am commin, I had to make a quickstop off at the hospital for rotator cuff surgery from throwing so many goddamn traps to make master scout!

I hope you heal quickly...a lot more traps need to be thrown in the Ranger professions. Back on subject, I am posting all the time in the correspondent forum trying to get some attention. I got TH to notice me once or twice, but I will keep pushing. I have also posted links to our top 6 issues threads. I will let you know when I get some news...

FRANKLY I think that if we are the example of how SOE does re-vamps Everyone is screwed. We were thrown a few bones (they calledrevamp to make us something better then glorified scouts ) now they've made every perk they gave us obsolete. To make the other professions happy.

By that example I predict that smugglers will be thrown some perks that will make spices the choice of non doc buffs. making chefs usless. then they'll feel bad for the CH's and make it so CH pets are a better choice over droids.

Actually, I checked the official priority listing the devs are using. It's super secret, but I decided to go ahead and release it to the general public.

Here is the official current order of priorities for the devs:

"OK guys, here's the schedule for the upcoming year! From most important to least, the things we need to do are:

* Bow to pressure and give wookiees armor to keep them quiet

* Try to keep powergamers from jumping ship to WoW by completely re-doing Jedi and giving them a ton of new content, quests and abilities

* Another complete round of junk dealer enhancements, because we think junk dealers are cool!

* Get around to adding some content to the game in an attempt to keep everyone else from jumping ship to WoW

* Smuggler revamp

* GCW revamp

* Get around to watching all the Soprano DVDs

* Squad Leader revamp

* Put out tantalizing yet incomplete tidbits of information about the Space Expansion in an attempt to keep people from jumping ship to WoW

* Merchant update / revamp

*Add more frustratingly long quests that you can't control the outcome of and that give you a completely random chance at a really nice reward or a total crap reward like the Bestine elections to mess with their heads some more.

* Increase Han Solo's height in the LoK cantina so he finally doesn't look like a midget anymore

* Something about 'droids'.....hmmm......make them useful or something. Supposidly there were 'droids' in these Star Wars movies....go figure.

* Make the grass on Naboo a deeper shade of green

* Put more sand on Tatooine

* Add more useless NPCs that will get stuck in the walls in cities

* That's it! Oh......ummm.....something about rangers. Ah forget the rangers......let's concentrate on those junk dealers!!"

This, to me, is the biggest slap in the face to our profession they could give us. Junk Vendors need more attention than Ranger's. Why is this? TH? Just-G? Runesabre? Q-3P0? Holo? Garva? (oops I was on a roll. He'll probably see that and lock this thread)

Why are junk dealers and merchants more important than Rangers? Anyone?

Not a bad list, but you included squad leaders on it? And although you left pikeman off it on purpose its still more accurate with pikeman off the list completely than on it Oh and in the beginning of the list you forgot to include this entry: Nerf random profession so it would appear game balance is important, random class because obviously we don't know which profs nobody plays even with all our tools.

Something I feel is important that was left out of all these discussions....

Gary Gattis's State of the Game Letter

"We have been working on hitting regular dates with high quality. We are trying to communicate with the player base, and listen to and act on your input about the game. One of the reasons that development houses are so reluctant to share information with the community is that, by their very nature, things ALWAYS change. We are taking a huge risk here by pushing this information out to you. I need to make a very strong caveat that things may be removed, changed, and added to the schedule."

and

Mini Publish: (Correspondent issues/ new content

as well as

Publish 11

GCW Revamp

As mentioned above, this revamp is going to transform the GCW into the "elder game" for high-end players. Runesabre is working very hard to ensure that everyone - regardless of profession - has a role they can play in the GCW. Again, more details to come as the design takes shape.

and finally....

Once again: This schedule can, and most likely will change. But this is how it looks right now, and we wanted to share it with you. We'll keep you informed as much as we can along the way.

Keep in mind that what he said is absolutely true. Instead of repeating what happened last year with all the promised upgrades to Ranger, only to give us nothing at all, they are keeping a tight lip on the whole process until they are certain that they can deliver as promised. They may have the Outdoorsman done for all we know. Highly doubtful, but still possible. They just may not want to deliver the goods until everything is packaged up just right.

Your friendly neighborhood Ranger,

Reyune

I keep pointing this out on the Corr forum; that much of Ranger can be worked on in hot fixes. Still no response. JustG's lack of hints and dates in his letter, and the comment about how things "can and will change" are very common themes over there as well. /sigh
