We seem to be having an increased number of trade enquiries here on the profession forum.
Without wishing to seem like a party pooper (I dread to think what that actually means) perhaps it's time the board adopted a policy of simply redirecting Trade Enquiries to the appropriate Galaxy Trade Forum.
We can do it politely, professionally, and of course anyone here who happens to see a 'local' enquiry can still PM/tell the enquirer about the work.
I'm slightly worried that the forums reputation for level headed, mature, professional discourse could fly out the window when we respond, uhm, humourously (?) to these occaisional exotic visitors?
This would also help preserve the integrity of the trade forum by not diluting their business and help us maintain some sort of presence on those boards related to RAngerly business rather than the million credit adhesive exchanges.
Just my 2cr worth, really. Feel free to ignore.

I see no problem with a crafter coming in here asking for help gathering meat/hide/bones. I just want to see rangers selling resources here.

I am looking forward to our forum moderator's official stance on this. This place needs to be either a Ranger Trade forum, or not a Ranger Trade forum.
If the Ranger community want to sell their services on here and on the trade forum and in the game itself then let it be officially our stance.
I, however had reservations as to using the profession forums for trade and service requests, and as i have stated before, visiting the Weaponsmith forum for a gun, the Armoursmith forum for some armour, the Doctor forum for a buff, the Creature Handler forum for a pet, and so on, is something I don't believe these profession forums were intended for; nor do I believe they are in the best interests of the profession.
However, I appreciate some Rangers here disagree with my stance so I eagerly await our forum's official stance.

I am not going to be a tyrant in regards to theposts, but we are NOT a trade forum, nor will it become one (i.e. don't try to start selling resources here). The trade forums were created to keep the clutter down in the profession boards, and give peeople a place to look for the services they need. Sinceresource contracts can be filled by Scouts as well, one has a much better shot of finding someone to fill thier contract if they use their forum trade boards.

Oops, I typed faster than my brain. I meant to say I DO NOT want to see people hawking their wares here.

Also,
There are so many Galaxies out there, to cater for trade requests on them all would theoreticallyl flood us. I think it would make much more sense for crafters and quest'ers to advertise for a Ranger on the message board for their server (or the galaxy trade forum), rather than the message board rangers to talk about ranger issues.

I think the Almagill's point was missed a bit...

I think they were trying to say...Instead of flaming or sarcasmic responses to the occasional post from folks wanting goods or services...we respond in a fashion consistant with the mature, calm levels of behavior this forum AND Rangers havebeen known for.
Just a simple redirect post to whoever's trade type request, from the first to see it or post on it should be enough. No need for a string of flames after.
I have taken pride in the fact that anyone could come to this forum and ask a question, and get a qualified, mature, intelligent response. Even if the answer is "We're sorry, we don't do that here"
Unlike most other forums.
