i have talked to cal in game on this one. what do u all think i made my template as master sword novice ranger0-0-4-0 and novice medic0-0-4-0 for one reason only. to track and kill dragons the biggest problem with this is i work solo so adult dragon takes about 45 minutes to solo. if i cannot get him half dead before others show up and decide that i need help and trust me i don't guess what group gets the loot from my tracking and hard work? there goes the cash on my buffs and the cash for shuttle and cash for mind buffs. for what a big nothin wow good deal for the rangers the graveyard is not that big to find dragons so if u lock one solo be prepared to have your dragons ganked.same works for most rare creatures.my i deal was have a trap that we can toss and land that gives rangers exclusive loot rights on that creature.but because we could own the graveyard that way i suggested a time limit ruuning on the trap per creature level level 100 creature or something give us 30 minutes once trap is on to kill it.and the trap also would not work if the creature was already in combat with others. what do u all think ever had your hard work ganked?

I only say this because of all the english majors in my thread. Paragraphs are our friends.

A trap that locks down loot? Nope not going to happen and shouldnt. One of my biggest pet peeves in SWG is seeing "How do I solo a krayt". This is the toughest creature in game and its become just another template. Your template doesnt take into account that Master Swords do not get that much in the way of defenses. Thats why Im going fencer myself. But not to go kill krayts although my weaponsmith side would like that.

I know its fun to solo but when your taking on the number 1 creature in game. Get a friend to work with you. This will take care of your loot problems. You split it with them or offer them cash in place of the loot. If you don't have a friend that you can trust to not steal your loot. You have issues outside of the ranger forum.

Rangers are CURRENTLY not a combat class and it offers nothing in the way of helping you fight the creatures you find with track. Sorry theres nothing really that can be helped here other then getting help with your kills.

We did indeed discuss this last night, and I am not against a way to have looting rights locked in for a certain group. The big problem is making it so it isn't griefable. I am not so sure it should be a Ranger skill.

Maybe, just maybe, it would be an SL skill since there supposed to be the leaders of a group and it would be their job to split it? I know thats roleplaying and we discourage that kind of thing here at SWG (/sarcasm) but really it would make sense. And since the one thing our devs do like is a legitmate reason to add something if it makes sense. I think i just made a darn good argument for it. Could it be griefed by getting SL? Sure. But its an option

The only way I know of not to have your Krayt and/or loot taken from you or "kill steal" as it's called is to hunt Krayts with a large group of people that can out-damage any group that may try to join the fight and take the loot (whoever does the highest amount of damage on the creature is the one that gets looting rights).

When you hunt in a large group it's adviseable to make sure the rules of the hunt are set forth ahead of time ...

1) make sure the group is either a) hunting for your needs (then recipocate on another hunt) if your time frame is short

2) or have a several hour hunt where a) the group leader is the designated looter and loot is "rolled" for at the end of the hunt, or b) everyone loots in turn after each kill and looting order is set up before the hunt begins.

As to your template ..

I don't feel able to comment on your combat portion as I have only ever used ranged weapons and still trying to find what fits right for me. However, I would suggest that you change medic from 0-0-4-0 to 4-0-0-0 (first aide IV) as you get "apply first aid" which heals bleeding wounds with FA4 and your heal rate is slightly better ... this comes in very handy and I have on many occasions been able to heal bleed wounds for people, pets and myself whenhunting which without that skill you have to wait for the bleeding to stop which can at times take it's toll on health.

Actually grouped all members of the group have loot rights. Your thinking if two soloists attack the same target

Actually what I meant was that if two groups are competing for the same Krayt the "group" that does the most damage gets the loot rights. And with the "loot" drops such as pearls, whoever manages to hit their loot key first gets that loot (hence a designated looter or loot turns) ... everyone in the group can harvest resourses (hint ... if you see that group members areharvesting one type of resource and you don't have to have that same type due to stats - choose something else and you will get a higher yeild ... more harvesting same type decreases amount of your yield - from my experience at least).
