Hello Rangers,
My name is Hound, and on Bria, I am THE resource guy to go to. I have in the works to add a TON more pulling power in the next few weeks. Someone posted a comment saying how great the pulling power was for minerals and chems, but when am I going to expand to organics.
Hmm.... I had never thought about it. I just considered the task to great, but is it?
To provide the amount of hide/bone/meat that i would like to Bria there is no choice but to hire help. This is something im JUST now doing after 6months of running MILLIONS probably at least a couple billion resources.
So, that is a given, i will need to hire. Now in order for me to be successfull I have to buy cheap if i want to continue to keep my prices low. I was wondering what rangers had in ways of suggestions to expand my resource business to include organics. The ideal is buying whatever they have all the time... and hope that i sell enough of it to turn a profit. This would be the best i think for the rangers but in order to keep myself from loosing money i would have to buy from them real low.
I heard there was a Rangers ofBria group... and I dont want to step on their toes. Heck, maybe we could even work together.
.... anyways, thoughts?
Thanks
HOUND

You just need a bunch of harvesters (RAnger AND Scouts) who like to hunt...a lot! It is really hard to get a variety of animal resources in large stacks, so you need to decide if you quantity or variety. Along with that, you need to decide if you want to work on special orders, or have vendor stocled with the 'popular' resources.
I am not sure if the Rangers of Bria are still around, or in large quantity (I think I heard they were down to 2 members, but were acquiring more). My last advice is to advertise that you are looking for animal resource gatherers on the Bria Trade Forum; if you post such a thread here, the Bothans may attack you!

Well, organics are a hard market to keep cheap. Unlike stuff you can mine, you have to put a lot of time and effort into getting the scout resources. You can't really get enough organics for someone at a good price (assuming it's a good shift). You'd need to get a lot of people interested and you'd have to convince them to work for less than they can probably make running missions. Until they increase the amount we can harvest, you are going to be hard pressed to supply a whole server with good priced organics.

Ain't gonna work. Unless the devs develop harvester droids that go out and kill beasts, harvest their hides/bones/meat and bring it back to you (and that's not gonna happen), you won't be able to mass-sell organics without short-changing a LOT of rangers and scouts working for you at once.

Most Rangers usually work by contract directly to the prof that needs the resource as good spawns appear. You want it cheap? Best advice - become a Ranger youself. Second best - offer to have rangers/scouts sell their resources on your vendor for a cut (since most don't have the points available to become merchant and have their own vendor) ... but this would probably only work on "average stat" resources and not the ubber ones. When an ubber spawn occurs most are inundated with tells and emails requesting their services from either existing or new clients.
The other problem that I have seen .... When a really great "ubber" resource spawns, it seems the creature spawn rate decreases
which makes it harder for us to get large quantities.

Your main problem is not the demand, it's the supply.
1. People want meat with good stats. It is usually on a sucky planet or hard to harvest.
Right now I can sell Lokianherbie at 150cpu. Or I can sell run of the mill whatever herbivore for 10cpu. I HATE LOK. I can kill paralopes, kahmurra, fynocks and the like all day long, never a wound and make 10cpu. For that matter I can go to Endor and kill Gleaming Lantern Birds at 10k per mission, harvest 1k plus of meat and turn 2 missions into 30k. I LOVE ENDOR.
Tatooine avian was good for a bit.Want to guess how many nunas you have to harvest to get 1k? Forget that.
Poop on the Lokian herbie, double poop on Tat avian. Personally, I hunt what is good and sell it myself. The rest goes to the 10cpu guy.
2. Ok, if you are paying 100cpu and selling at 125cpu, what is to stop me from saying poop on you, and goingright to the customers? Not a damn thing. I don't need a vendor. I have a house and a nice craft machine to store meat in. Docs come to me, I do not go to them. Hmmm... 25 cpu is a lot of money some days. And granted, you make only 25 cpu, but that is 25% more for me.
3. I, like a lot of guys, hate contract hunting. "I need XYZ amount of meat by tonite at 6pm"... want in one hand and sh*t in the other and which one fills up first? Meat shifts, moreso than minerals. Daily is not unheard of. Weekly is the standard. I want to have fun, not work for you the entire time I am on, trying to fill a meat order.
Just 3 ideas off the top of my head why organic resources selling, unless you are out hunting the stuff, just don't fly too well.
