Thread: I am sorry this is a bad question..but what is a ranger?
I was looking at this profession and thinking about it, and I have no clue what it is, and what it does.
I like a Creature Handler, but was looking into somthing else, and I have no idea what this is. Sorry I an a noob, but its a simple question. And as a master Ranger how do you make money? fight <you have skills in a weapon?> or does a ranger have thier own weapons to fight with, I know you get traps, do they do enough DMG to take down mobs?
just a few questions for ya, if you think I am an idiot for asking, I am sorry, but i have to clue what a ranger is.

A Ranger is an elite Scout. We have abilities to survive in the wild that are second to none. We move fast and silently across terrain, and have expert knowledge of the wilderness and the creatures that inhabit it.
We make the best camps, throw the best traps, run faster, farther and longer than anyone else. We make our money by completing Explorer missions, and selling the bone/meat/hide that we harvest from our kills.

Well, personally, i think ranger should have more combat ablilities, i mean it is ranger for god sake. I am going for ranger too, but just for the camping part, coz' i just can't resist the high tech field base, it just look so cool. about the areatracking part, i think it is just like surveying, so you can do explorer mission easier without running around looking for the type of creatures you need. harvesting bones, hides and meat, well, a ranger can harvest more units than any other profession, but what is the point when you can't kill the creature in the first place. Bottom line, I just think ranger should have more bonuses against creatures, i mean combat bonuses.

Rangers are the Grizzly Adams of Star Wars. 
- I play my character as a semi-self-sufficient outdoorsman, who prefers the open plains or shadowy forest to thecramped lifestyle of the cities.
- My primary source of income is the resources I pull off creatures I kill (nowadays good quality Avian and Herbivore flies off the bazaar), as well as cash I loot off would-be brigands.
- The only reason I return to town is to use the Star Port to move to a new planet. I walk between the towns rather than shuttle (must be the explorer in me).
- Now if I could just figure a way to havereplacement weapons couriered out to me, I would be set for life
