Thread: Something to note about Rangers, BH, Scout and PVP.

I was reading through the BH's should not get Eyeshot thread on the Rifleman forum and someone brought up a point sarcastically in saying BHs are badass because they learned to make campfires. And something came to my attention. Why is it that Scout/Ranger are entirely creature related and not humanoid/alien related and yet they draw their reasons for their extreme benfits from the mastery of the Scout class, I can understand the Marksman part, but not really the Scout as they have only learned to track, and trap CREATURES. And yet they are hunting humanoids. If they can be a Master Scout and then hit BH and be assumed to, from a RP standpoint be able to track/trap humanoids, why is it that at such a level as Ranger we aren't molded to do the same thing or perhaps why arent traps to some extent working on humanoids/in PVP. I'm not whining, I'm just curious on the logic. I could be entirely wrong on the matter, if anyone would care to enlighten me.

The answer is this: SOE released the game in a broken state, and nerfing gets priority. Fixing anything takes forever, and even then it may not be fixed. So when you whine about something like BH, all that you accomplish is upping the nerfs on that class and not the fix rates on your class. If you want to get ranger/scout fixed, don't elevate the level of nerf scrutiny on another class.

Maybe I've completely missed the point of your post, but as a ranger with the third box in the tracking line, you can track npc humanoids. With the fourth box, you can track players. I've had bounty hunters glower at me in envy over these abilities, so I'm not going to complain about where we are versus them in that department.

Also, the new trip-wire trap currently in development is suppposedly going to work on npcs.

I can personally guarantee you if and when PVP bounties go in the seeker droids will serve the same purpose as our track. Just like they use universal code for Knockdown moves so when one gets nerfed all the res of them do (you can notice the universal code preference sentiment from holo himself if you read any of his responses hes always looking for clear cut non-custom code solutions) so once they get some sort of player-tracking system up the seeker droids will most likely employ it as well if there are PVP bounties.

I don't totally understand the post and question either. The best I have is this. Rangers hunt and track creatures, for the most part. Bounty Hunters hunt and track humanoid "criminals". Logically, rangers would also be able to track people in the wild, too. With our new tracking skills, we can track everything (even house signs, LOL).

Also, the logic of making bounty hunters master scouting was the progression from trapping to investigation, which isn't too smooth. It was designed so bounty hunters could move with stealth over terrain to get to their marks. But most bounty hunters just pick a bounty in their current city or take the shuttle to where their next mark is. I don't fully blame the devs for the bounty hunters not making full use of their skills and making it illogical for them to have master scouting. Note that I said "most", but not all. I do know some bounty hunters who play the game as intended.

As someone who made the decision to become ranger and not bounty hunter, I still thinkbounty hunters should have some form of trapping mechanisms like a mesh net or energy lasso or something. Heck, I wouldn'tcareif there werecrossover traps. Just makes sense. Right now, I can hold a dewback at bay and kill it due to trapping. It just seems that a bounty hunter goes into his/her specific profession combat like a naked commando. Almost like they forgot something before they entered the fray.
