Thread: Ideas For Future Camps (my 3 ideas are long)
What are you ideas for furture camps for the frontiering tier?
We all know we're getting the Hunting Blind special camp and a range of 'other' specials but whatwouldyou choose as new camps?
Name: Field SafeZone
I would bump high-tech base camp down to expert level andinclude 1 more rest campat specialistcalled Field SafeZone.Thiscamp wouldbe in the circleconfigeration as is the existing High-Tech Field Base.Have 4 small turets outward facing and bright lighting to illuminate incoming threats,Inside the perimeter(be it laser fence or barbed wire, trip wires) is a medical area like in the high-tech base and also a seating area a tent, fire and medical crafting station (chem).
Its designed for quick deployment in hostile situations (must not be in combat to deploy) and is ideal for housing and providing protection for group members. Imagine your group members have been ambushed by some creatures and are finding it very difficult to stay alive, you peace and erect this base for them to retreat to, the base defences kick in (turrets) and provide moderate help in defeating/repelling the threat. It can also be used for quick medical attention. The medical craftig station can be used to create 'resus' packs for doctors etc and stims to help members. This base is very costly to make in resources and should be used as a last resort in combat.
Name: Clone Outpost
This is a special camp available only to master rangers and incorporates a temp clone station into a semi-perminant camp. The camp can be used and left unattended for up to 2 hours (max possible up time) upon which time it will auto disband.Group memberscan store their clone data at the terminal within the camp at a base cost of 1000 + a fee determined by the ranger. When players die they will respawn here but need to store there data once more to prevent spaming and mis-use of the feature.
Purpose is to provide a ranger with an alternate source of income aswell as provide player and rangers especially, some form of backup inwilderness. This presents the oportunityto eliminate a long walk back to an exotic and'out of the way' hunting groundbut at a cost (resources and credits).
Name: Hunting Cabin
This is a massive undertaking but i believe would be one of the most greatly apreciated features to come to any profession. There would most likely have to be 3 types of hunting cabins to suit the visual apearance of each planet. The 3 types would be 1 for lok and tatooine (rock and sun-burnt, scavenged wood look). 1 for Dantooine, Corellia andTalus (Would look more modern that others but still have a woody and natural looks, such as metal looking frame, wooden walls and power lighting etc. Finally 1 for Naboo, Rori, Yavin andDathomir (very much traditional looking like a traditional huting log cabin) The last one used for Naboo, Rori, Yavin and dathomir i will describe in basic detail below, you can use your imagination to picture what the others would looks like substituting colours and materials etc.
This is an exciting camp that is semi-perminantup to 48 hours. Its is made by the MasterRanger and is only availbale to Master Ranger. Ithas amedium (about the size ofa field base) base area that holds a log cabin, that can be entered. The log cabin has one main room containing windows (please please please have windows) a fireplace, hunting gun rack, hide stretcher frame, 3 chairs, work bench and a few buckets/tools etc as visual additions(all non-interactive apart from the chairs
). There is avery small backroom that contains a clone station thatcould either be only used by the range who built the premises or be used by a small number of people (say3 people max). The cost of storing clone data here is very high, inthe region of 5 to 10k sothe clone outpostwill not become redundant and because the clone data is heldfor up to 48hours instead of 2 hours. Outside the cabin is a small area that has visual items such as a log pile, axe in wood log, rocking chair (usable) and obviously the single light source (in this cabin's case, a flaming torch).
The purpose of this cabin is to help rangers out who want to go on a weekend long hunt by themsleves or maybe with a friend or two far away from a city and people. It is meant to be placed in isolated areas in order to benefit from the clone station and be used as a base of operations as it were (the ranger goes out, hunts, then returns here etc). I feel 48 hours is plenty enough time given that it should require extreme amount of resources to create and it provides great benefits. This is the elite elite camp a master ranger canget.Rangers like myself are more or less classed as wanderers, traveling from hunting ground to hunting groundnever realy settling down anywhere apart from in a guild city etc. It would make a Ranger/Hunter/Tracker profession much more involving and interesting. No more simple go there, hunt a few hours, come back etc. Now more like go there, gather resources, construct a cabin, hunt, explore, rest, hunt, log off, log on, explore, find yourself
hunt some more, head back home happy as hell, with tails to tell and with hard earned resources to sell.
Please dont flame me about wanting these when theres bugs and problems about and the game wont suport these features at present. I know there arebugs and i want them fixed and i also realise some things would require a lot of work by the devs to implement, its just i would some day love to have these. Please put forward your suggestions no matter how brief or detailed and give me your opinion on what you think of my ideas. You never know, the devs could one day be stuck for ideas and stumble across this thread ![]()
Thanks for reading, hope you didnt fall asleep too many times![]()

"Name: Field SafeZone"
- Yes, I like the idea of an active defense camp, especially on those more difficult planets. I hate being attacked by a spawn that appears right on top of me, while I'm resting. ![]()
- This should require components created by other professions to produce the turrets and such. (ie: Weaponsmith components for the lasers)
"Name: Clone Outpost"
- Many people bring this up. But it is not necessary if you have a Doctor in your group, as they could simply Revive your group members with minimal effort.
"Name: Hunting Cabin"
- Interesting notion. If they do implement it, it will probably have hefty resource requirements (lots ofwood, etc.)
- Perhaps an option to refresh the house by feeding more resources into it. That way you don't have to toast the old house and build another in its place when the 48 hours is over.
- The refresh requirements should be the same as theinitial resource requirements, it simply stops the existing house from being demolished.
I like the idea of a hunting cabin, with a couple of modifications. Firstly, it should be able to be put up on slopes that houses currently can't go on. Second, in order to promote class interdependence, the deed should be craftable only by architects, but only with some components craftable by rangers. Finally, I'd rather it be permanent (maintenance-based) and redeedable rather than disappearing in 48 hrs.
Hey! Planet Specific Hunting Cabins are MY personal Crusade! ![]()
Get your Own! ![]()
I totally agree on the Planet Specific Hunting Cabin Deeds for Master Rangers (see my sig)
, but it should be a permenent structure somewhat like an extra-small house that can be placed anywhere a normal camp can, including the Advanved Planets!
- It should require Master Ranger to make and deed.
- It should require alot of resources, maybe 3/4th those needed for a Small Generic House.
- It should require some sort of maintainance at about the same level as a Small House, be it credits, hides or some other resource.
- It should be small, nothing that could rival the Architects Small Houses. Maybe one room that could fit 4-5 people comfortably.
- It should have an item limit slightly lower than a small house.
- It should function just as a player house, meaning it should allow healing and Entertainers healing of Battle Fatigue!
Something like this would go a Long way to making us the Frontiersmen we are suppose to be.
