Thread: High Tech Field Base is SWEET (and how to get it)

Did the majority of camping in 4 days thanks to the totally awesome "/ui action toolbarSlot00" (toolbarslot00 is F1, F12 is toolbarslot11, while the bottom row starts out at toolbarslot12-23 from left to right). command. When i was at the keyboard, id pitch a new camp every 15 minutes. When i was afk in dream land (sleeping) my macro was set up to pitch a new camp every 1 hr and 15 seconds (ample time for the first camp to disappear). Another macro called out thecamp location every 15 minutes while yet another macro made me /stand, /pause 15, /stretch, /pause 15, /sit every 10 minutes. Id stop playing at around midnight and let the camping macros run for about 5 hours until i had to go to work. Camp kits must be loaded into each toolbar for this to work. Since you can only do one every hour this way (dont know of a way to disband a camp without actually using the camp's control pad).. youre only gonna make one camp an hour... but with Frontiering, every camp helps. Also, get an entertainer to come sit in camp with you. let them go afk and play while you pitch new camps every 9-12 minutes. They get afk entertainment xp and you get the added benefit of their presence.

I thought that the Field Base was sweet. I had seen one before out in the field and thought that was the best camp in the world. The High Tech Field Base is insanely sweet! It doesnt make alot of sense how i can make that camp with some bone, hide and meat... but who cares about that? Its just an appearance thing and it looks really killer at night from a distance. This makes all the camping worthwhile, my hat off to the guy that designed it.

I play on lowca and have been pitching these camps and nothing else. I dont think many others on my server have seen this kind of camp before either. The compliments on the camp come in non stop. What would REALLy be nice, is to allow non Rangers to post these camps as long as they are made by a Ranger (they would of course not get XP for a camp that they didnt craft, thye would just get the healing benefits);....then maybe i could make some money selling camps (and camo kits too).

Later Rangers!

Rangers with Frontiering III can set them up, so you can sell them to those rangers trying to finish up their grind. Now ifthat laser wire justrepelled aggressive creatures...

There is a post on how to macro-camp, do a search. I find it distastful personally (probably why I STILL am not Master yet, but I don't have a NEED to be ).

OK...

I haven't grinded (is that a word?) at all since I started, but I am getting impatient... I spend all day here at work and my toon is just SITTING there in limbo doing nothing! He could be camping! UGGG. It's just so inefficient - so much time wasted...

I feel I may fall tot he Dark side on this one...

I dont mind sharing alittle of what i picked up.

Create macro #1- name it CAMP (or something). You also get to choose from a wide variety of symbols used to identify the macro on the toolbar at this time.The macro looks like the following line by line (no bullets, just used those for visual spice)-

  • /ui action toolbarSlot00;

  • /pause 3610;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot01; <so far the macro is 1hr, 10 secs>

  • /pause 3610;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot02;

  • /pause 3610;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot03;

  • /pause 3610;

  • /ui action toobarSlot04;

  • /pause 3610; <this will run for alittle over 5 hours>

Now that we have our first part of the "Uber-Camp-Macro" made, we need to place it. Select a blank toolbar using ctrl+function key. If you donthave a double toolbar, click and resize so that you do. Its not really necessary in this example but if you want to continue the macro for more than 5 hours (going out of time, hot date) youll need to make use of the second row.

Now we need to load our 5 camp kits (the best you can make at the time) and load them into the toolbar starting with the F1 (which is toolbarSlot00 in the macro code) through F5 (toolbarSlot04). All done? Cool. Now let's make another macro that makes our little toon do something other than sit there for 5 hours (because i think you get the boot if your character isnt active... seems like i always do).

Create the following macro called CampAction-

  • /sit;

  • /pause 300;

  • /stand;

  • /pause 20;

  • /stretch;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot12

Now drag that into the toolbar slot that is Shift+F1 (right under the F1 key). This is a looping macro and how alot ofentertainers and surveyers have mastered. The macro makes you sit down, wait 5 minutes, stand up. wait 20 seconds, do the stretch animation, 20 second pause.. and then the process starts all over again. You can set up a survey macro, or even a foarging macro (make sure you clear out inventory tho, youll hae alot when you get back). I do this just to keep my character moving.

I also like to shout or yell coordinates of the camp just so fellow adventurers have a place to heal up or call droids. Since youre keeping the camp out for a full hour (dont know of a way to disband the camp using typed commands) you dont really need the XP but hey... nice to help out some people ever now and then. Having said that, i set up my camp right behind my guild hall in a little player city... .relatively safe from Giant Womp Rats or those menacing kreetles Here is how to do the Shout macro-

  • /shout Ranger Camp setup at Waypoint 555 5555, Ranger is afk but the camp heals good, stop on by!;

  • /pause 1200;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot13

This macro is placed in the Shift+F2 slot and repeats every 20 minutes. You dont have to do this one but hey, who cares right?

Now we are ready to start camping. Hit Ctrl+A and find your macro, Double click the symbol and if you have done everything right so far, a camp will pop up around you. Now use the mouse pointer to activate your other two macros or simply press Shift+F1 and Shift+F2, this will start the sitting and standing and shouting. Now walk away, go to sleep, go to the mall.... even go outside. Youve got 5 hours worth of camping and around 5k worth of survival xp (plus more counting what you got for crafting the camps since last patch) coming your way.

Even doing this, youre still going to have to power camp. youre gonna have to get some entertainer friends to come camp with you. They can go afk to do their grind and you just sit there and make sure you disband and pitch a new camp every 8-15 minutes. Setup the shouting macro to brodcast the Waypoint of the current camp. You need to stay there and disband when you feel the xp is capped out. Seems like i was getting 1k xp for 8-9 minutes with one other person in the camp and more when i left the camp up for 15 minutes with 5 people in.... but i dont really know. Any amount of time between 8-15 minutes seems to be the cap.

Need scouting xp and survival? Go to Dathomir and pitch a camp there. Get in the middle of it and make a macro that activates /maskscent. Just sit there. 90% of the time youll watch hundreds of scouting xp scroll up the screen, 125 xp, 100 xp, 95, xp.... it just goes and goes at times. This is NOT safe tho. Going prone seems to help the /maskscent but i dont have actual evidence to back that statement up. If you want to take a walk, you can get 1k of scouting xp every 5 minutes just by using /maskscent (maybe not that much but still, /maskscent or /conceal all the time, the extra xp is worth it).

/salute

A hint on the macro. You can make it a little more elegant by simply looping the the macro. Just put a bunch of camps in a row, then set the macro to toggle all the camps on at once, then put a short timer (i.e. one minute using /pause) then have the macro toggle a slot that has the macro itself in it (i.e. restarting the loop)

End result is the same, but you don't have to worry about trying to figure out when the camp disbands. When one camp disbands, the macro will just loop through all the camps and set the next one up...

Hope that makes some sense, lol.

-Now if that laser wire just repelled aggressive creatures...

That's my wish too. We have this awesome base and it does not repel jack squat or stop the rain, oh well I still love my high tech field base. Just the ohhhh and ahhhhhsss is worth the countless house I spent camping.

When i first read that... i was like.... what? But i get it now.. .would look lije the following 23 toolbar slots were filled with camps (still gotta leave one spot for the looping action macro)-

  • /ui action toolbarSlot00;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot01;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot02;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot03;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot04;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot05;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot06;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot07;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot08;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot09;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot10;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot11;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot12;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot13;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot14;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot15;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot16;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot17;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot18;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot19;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot20;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot21;

  • /pause 20;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot22

This would work BUT... if all camps were to be placed.... that would be around 23-34 hours worth of camping and the servers just dont stay up for 24 hrs at a time (especially Lowca) so while this would work... it isnt the most effective way of doing it tho it is the easiest. The biggest "problem" i see with this is that you would get a constant stream of messages saying that you already have a camp posted... but thats no huge deal.

I usually just left the macro running from 4-7 hours (editing when needed) depending on how long i was gonna be afk. Both methods would work tho.

uh maybe have it "jam" all the buttons across the top and jam again every min or 5 min.. Lot less programming as you don't pause after everything. Will save you some time.

Hehe, that's close to what I was thinking about.

Here's the macro (you can find it in the forums somewhere too)

  • /ui action toolbarSlot00;
  • /ui action toolbarSlot01;
  • /ui action toolbarSlot02;
  • /ui action toolbarSlot03;
  • /pause 300;
  • /ui action toolbarSlot04;

  • Where toolbarSot04 contains the macro that loops through 0-4 slots. So every five minutes the macro loops through the camps.

    When a camp auto disbands, then a new camp is created within five minutes. And yes, you get a lot of messages sayinga camp is already placed in this area.

    Have fun!
