Why should I have to now put much needed points into Artisan so I can get more than two usages out of cammo kits..

Sorry if they said they are going to change it and I missed that.

And if they haven't mentioned they are changing it, why not?

Cammo kits in theory are great

Cammo kits implemented are not.

Also, why as a Master Ranger am I now drawing aggro from KREETLES while using Mask Scent?

Bugs, bugs, and more bugs on the Maskscent issues.

I guess they were meaning to increase or keep a good amount 'class dependency' with the camo kits. Previously we needed artisans to get us Minerals for our campsites. Now that we don't need the chemicals and metals for the camps, they've added the berries and trees for camo kits to keep that factor alive.

If we didn't need those ingredients we would pretty much be completely self-sufficent(except for some traps), which SOE doesn't want.

It kinda sucks, but it's not much worse then before.

Stealth:

I, for one, disagree with the statement, "If we didn't need those ingredients we would pretty much be completely self-sufficent(except for some traps), which SOE doesn't want."

If I wanted to be completely independendent, I would have gone TKA and would run from mission to mission in my undies. I am a pistoleer/rifleman. I spend a ton of money (and points) on pistols and rifles (and their upkeep), I have a large Corellian Style 2 house that I bought from an architect (which I pay a lot of maintenance on), tons of clothes to fit the part, and buy steel for my traps and camps.

I am ok with all of that, though. Now the Tailors want decay on clothing. The one really cool thing I do as a game "hobby" and they want to destroy it. I am going to give Tailors and architects plenty of business anyway - they don't have to make me come. I will just get rid of all of that stuff so I don't need it anymore. I am dependent on both of them to make my SWG journey a little nicer and more personal.

I am in a guild so I have to help pay for the costs of my PA Hall.

Once player cities are in working order, it looks like I will pay taxes too. Even death won't save me from taxes in SWG!

Oh, and looking forward to insurance returning.

Wait till chefs start demanding players are required to eat or HAM goes down. Then you have to buy food on a regular basis.

If I simply went from mission to mission trying to gain experience to get master, then yes, maybe I could/would be self-sufficient. But, on the other hand, so would a TKA artist who runs around in his underwear.

I guess I am trying to make the point of if someone really wants to be self-sufficient, they can be. Someone can solo this game. IMO, it wouldn't be as much fun and would be boring as heck, but it could be done.

I understand those that disagree with me and respect your opinions. This is just how I feel about it.

I made several camo kits earlier today, and I had some rediculous number of experiment points, like 9 or so. I have NO artisan skills, not even novice, but I am a master ranger, so I assume that we get our experiment points from the ranger line. In any case, it was quite easy for me to experiment up to the max quality allowed by my resources of 5 charges per kit (I had 4 experiment points remaining each time if I recall correctly), and I have heard that you can get 6 if you use good quality resources. I agree that things seem to be breaking too easily now, but remember that mask scent is now entirely in the realm of scouts, and therefore its effectiveness peaks at master scout. Even still, though, it does seem pretty off right now. Hopefully we will see some adjustment on this shortly.

Here is an update to my story:

Sucking it up until I tried it, thinking I could make the best of it (Adapt and Overcome - our motto...) I usually hunt with my guild on Dantooine, so I have plenty of hides/bones/meat from there. All I needed was flower fruit and berries.

I took the time to get 2 flora harvesters and then looked around for other flora harvesters. Found a group and they were collecting berries. Cool. Dropped 1 harvester. Couldn't find any good resources for flower fruit. I added some energy I bummed off a guild mate and added my maintenance and started it up. The resource was at 72% for berries.

The next day I found a spot for flower fruit. It was also at 72% so I dropped one there but then was told my berries supply had run dry so I ran back, picked up my harvester I placed yesterday and moved it to where I just placed my flower fruit harvester.

Got both running. Went about my merry way thinking I would come back another day.

Third day: Came back, had a good supply of berries and fruit. Couldn't wait to try this new cool thing that took forever to make. I open my crafting tool and add the ingredients and got 2 charges. 2!!!!! Thinking it was just a bad roll of die, I selected myself and said, "/conceal". I was concealed...

Some huurtons were over the hill and gave it a shot. 5 steps into the movement it breaks and I am detected. I wasn't attacked but I was detected - one kit (out of 2 down). I think I am still jusst unlucky...

Go away from them so no cons at all are on my radar. Empty. Type /conceal again and I am concealed. This time I do a track to see what is near. I see a voritor lizard 96m away. I thought I may be safe this time. Last time was just unlucky...

I got to 82m and was detected. Disgusted now, I head back to the mining outpost with no mask scent on and no camo kit on. This is my first attempt at a camo kit.

I have yet to make another with all the resources I gathered over 2-3 days.

Oh, I failed to mention that I am a Master Ranger.

"Why should I have to now put much needed points into Artisan so I can get more than two usages out of cammo kits.."

- Are we talking about the experimentation points or the need for quality resources here?

- If it's Experimentation points, I was under the impressionthose wereworking properly (meaning they were determined by the amount of camo skill you had).

- Namely, I have heard of the Bothans that get 11 points, because they have a special camo bonus (+15)

- If I am incorrect, then it is indeed a bug and not the intended effect.

----

- On the hand, if you are talking about quality resources... You have to make some hard decisions.

1) Spendsome valuable and limited skill points and pick up Artisan to harvest your own materials

2) Spend some cash and have someone else do the harvesting for you

- What your choice is depends entirely on your gameplay style, and what you want to get out of this game.

- I am an Engineer (see the sig), so I can make my own harvester. But because of that, I will never be a Tera Kasi Master

Good Hunting, or Harvesting... whichever you choose.
