Thread: Area track definately not working properly
I know there have been many messages around Ranger issues, but the one that is annoying me most at the moment is /Areatrack. It seems that as well as the much documented tracking of dead creatures and vendor machines, it also just doesnt do what it says on the tin!
After the patch today I decided to go off on safari in Naboo swamps, every few hundred metres i would use /Areatrack, only to constantly find it might only come up with one or two creatures. Then move ahead 100m and suddenly there is a nest of Kreevols, etc.
Now I really dont see the point in this if it doesnt do exactly what it says, it should not really be a hit-and-miss affair should it?
I can sort of understand (technically) it having difficulty tracking (predicting) randow spawns, but lairs should not be a problem surely?
Anyhow, got that off my chest ![]()
"Then move ahead 100m and suddenly there is a nest of Kreevols, etc."
- That is because /areatrack only registers existing creatures, not the potential for new ones.
- What you are seeing is a new (or invisible) spawn point appearing in your path. This spawn point will spawn creatures once you are within range.
- That is the fundamental flaw in /areatrack... It only listscreatures that exist in the system, not the things that spawn those creatures. ![]()
Useful information, and i stand corrected if that is supposed to be how it works.
But was it actually designed to do that? or is it a flaw we must live with?
"But was it actually designed to do that? or is it a flaw we must live with?"
- That was the design. ![]()
- Though if it proves infeasible, I'm sure the developerswill change it to be more useful. ![]()
