Thread: A question from a Bio Engineer...

Hi there. As a MBE/CH I have a few skill points to throw around... I have been seriously considering taking as much ranger as skill points will allow. I won't be able to master Ranger (sadly), and I know I will never be able to craft Dathomir Camo kits (which I need sooo badly), but I was wondering if I buy a crate or two off a Master Ranger, will I be able to use them? Also, will camo be much more effective against mobs like bull rancor and mutant rancors?

Thanks a lot, I know these are probably silly questions.

In my experience and from reading on the forums don't bother with camo kits. Use maskscent and make it a hotbutton.

If you are BE and CH I would HIGHLY recommend the Tracking line. Like I have said in other posts, sucks at novice but is awesome when you get the 4th box filled.

Good luck.

Oh forgot to add. No I don't think you will be able to use them. I tried this with higher camp kits and they didn't work. Although it is possible to have a ranger apply the Dathomir camo to you.

I believe that if you have Wayfaring I, and thus the /conceal command, you should be able to use Dath Camo if you haveit on ya. Although there isn't much point to doing this at the moment... conceal is a maskscent that uses resources. I still find it fun to make the camo (it's like a scavenger hunt) and it's the only thing that I can make under the ranger/scout tree that I can experiment on, but it's not really worth using it. But anyways, to answer your question, you only need Wayfaring I to use any camo kit.

Are you sure of that DarkFloyd? I was under the impression you could only use a Dath Kit when your at the level to make one. IE Master. Wayfaring 1, i believe would only give you the ability to use camo kits that you can make with the Wayfaring 1 skill. I could be wrong as i have not tried it out but thats how i read it.

I never actually tried, but I believe you can use any camo kit once you get /conceal. The problem is that at Wayfaring I you only have conceal +40, which will likely prove relatively useless on a high-end planet. You'll be able to conceal yourself for 40 points on Corellia where the creatures have a 10 detection level. But creatures on Dathomir will have a 30 detection level, or a 50 for all I know, and will detect you because your skill isn't high enough. the numbers are just an analogy, dunno how the system works precisely. If your conceal skill is high enough though, conceal is better then maskscent. It will last a lot longer indeed and doesn't break as often like the description says. Some critters are bugged and seem to always detect me the first time. I'm a Master Ranger and frickin diseased vrelts detect me 70% of the time.

How's this for a complete answer:

You can't use Dath camo unless you're a master. I tried it with a friend who was grinding Ranger in his path to enlightenment, and he wasn't able to use it.

But you CAN use a camp that's one level above the kind you can make, i.e. a ranger with Frontiering 3 can USE a high tech field base, but they can't make them.

Thanks for all the advice guys... I am still trying to decide which trees to get (splitting between Conceal and Tracking or just focusing on Tracking) but at the rate I get Scouting xp, I can try al my options without being too upset at wasting the xp.

Just in case it does work, how much should I look to pay for a crate or two of Dathomir Camo Kits?
