Thread: Possible wishlist item-- Vehicle Terrain Negotiation
Whoopsies...empty post.
Okay this is just something I've been thinking of. It may have been suggested already, in which case, sorry for re-hashing old ideas. Just trying to do my part by supplying ideas. I've noticed recently how Rangers are saying that vehicles are making Rangers useless, and to some degree, this is true. A vehicle goes faster than the faster Ranger, even uphill, making our jobs as advance troops moot.
However, considering that we are in a Star Wars themed games, one would assume thata Ranger would have vehicles in his life. Being a Ranger is not mutually exclusive with having a vehicle. In fact one would assume that although the Ranger is in tune with nature, technology is part of the paradigm in which a Star Wars Ranger opporates.
That being the case, a Ranger would understand not only how to get himself up a hill faster, but in theory would also know the fastest way up a hill on a vehicle. This would result in a Ranger being able to get up this hill faster, since he or she could easily asses how to get up the hill the fastest (avoiding certain plants, dodging rocks, etc. ) Thus a Ranger could become an advance soldier again if given a Terrain Negotiation bonus while on our vehicles (and/or mounts). Thus, while our top speed over flat ground would be no faster, when encountering hills and mountains, we would be the ones who could get up the fastest. So let's say a vehicle goes 100mph on flat ground. On rough terrain, this could be reduced by half (50 mph up a mountain) however, a ranger,by following the easy paths up the hill couold be expected to keep the accelorator pressed a little further on the hills.
What I am saying is that since a lot of people claim our Terrain Negotiations skill mods are ineffective with vehicles around, it is reasonable that all Terrain Negotiations skill mods would apply to vehicles and mounts as well, giving us back what vehicles took. Just an idea, feel free to /disagree.
Peace, love and Rangering
