Hey all, I just got master scout last night, and noviced in Ranger right away. I am currently 0/0/0/1 in ranger. I am also mastering in pistoleer. Oh, I am on the Bloodfin server and am a member of EKA. Anyone I got a few questions. You all sound like rangers as a whole don't usually wear armor, I wear armor, and still get the crap kicked out of me, and usually clone on an hourly basis. Another question, I can now advance into either Wayfarer I or Tracking I and was wondering which one was the smarter one to go up in first. And lastly, please tell me survival xp is easier to gain as a ranger? Thanks, and see ya on the flip side.

Hey a couple of things Bro,

It sounds like you need to tweak your template a bit. You shouldn't die once an hour if armored and buffed. Pick up Novice Medic this way even unbuffed you should be able to heal yourself and stay alive with stim Bs andarmor on. I would recommendUbese Armor in at least a 70% Kinetic resist.

Secondly, if your going Pistoleer get the techniques (the 3rd pistoleer line)line first. That will give you a Geonosian Sonic Blaster Certification and also give you the special of Fan Shot (awesome for area attacks and leveling).

As far as Ranger skills go I was always partial to Area Track. The other lines will give you the harvest bonus which is your money maker. Level abit before doing the trap line. When your comfortable group and do traps on Rancors or go old school on the Rori Tortons and Leviasqualls. Leviasqualls can't catch you. So you throw traps and " RunForrest Run". You could literally finish the line in a day or two with enough traps made. Camping, well camping is a &*@%&. You can do the camping for hours in front of Coronet making your traps and camps as well as camp to heal with your group while trapping Rancors.

Welcome to the profession. If you are having trouble surviving, have a look at one of JBMat's Tactics threads (at least one should be somewhere in the stickies, if not then try the search the forums at the bottom). He's a Master Ranger/Master Pistoleer and has written quite a few nice threads about hunting unbuffed and unarmored. You also might want to pick up a nice BE pet or a droid for extra protection.

Edit: And you probably want to go for tracking first. Camo isn't that much better than mask scent and I don't expect you will be doing much crawling as a pistoleer. The extra harvest bonus and the tracking skills will probably be more useful to you.
