Right, I'm at work and bored out of my tiny mind, nothing is going wrong so there is nothing to do.... So,__________________
I thought I would ask you all what is the story behind your player name, i'll start.
Original player name = Shagnasty - Originating from an old nick name I had at college. But, some puritan on Farstar complained that it was "naughty" and a CSR popped in to my chat and insisted that I pick a new one right there and then. My protests that the word "Shag" was actually a referance to a popular North American dance were disregarded similarly my instance that it was actually a rolling tobacco.
Faced with the prospect of being given a very nasty "generic" name by him I blurted "Marcus" (my real name, do I think fast under pressure or what...!) "Nasticus" & I dont really know where the 2nd name came from, it just sort of rhymed....!
OK, over to you lot, lets hear em...?

I was creating a player for Morrowind and liked the name Hope but it seemed a bit too plain. So, I added the E. I messed around with The Sims (offline) quite a bit. Loved making my own floors, wallpaper, art and furniture. (/whisper rosebud) So when The Sims Online was released....there Ehope landed.
I met the mofos on TSO. Bored with just chit chat we all created on SWG.
Only trouble with my name? I never thought I would speak it outloud. When tsomofos.com had a radio station, I was asked...is it E Hope? E Hope E? To this day I haven't figured that out.
I still like the name and with a bit of luck, Ehope will always be around...somewhere.

Well, let's see.
Arvera - This name comes from a dinky little story I wrote about a year ago. In the story, my "evil" character was a general in a king's army. I can't remember all the story specifics, but I remember thinking that the name "Arvera" sounded authoritative yet regal. When making my SWG character, I happened to be reading through some old stuff and happened across the reference. It sounded like a name a Bothan would have, so I used it.
Srai'Tah - Sadly, this name was actually made with the random name generator. But, it sounded cooler than anything I could think up so....
Thusly Arvera Srai'Tah was born!
Known nicknames : Arv, Arvie, and Arvera the Wonder Bothan

My ranger name is from the random name generator. When I created him I had no idea what to name him and was just clicking away on the names writing down what I liked. Rayli was originally spelt Raili. Fyharo was actually a first name. I just threw them together and have become quite attached to them. My Rodian character, Oopito, was originally going to be a dancer that I was going to roleplay as really clumsy and akward. Oops=Oopito. Since I decided to go Bounty Hunter I decided I didn't need to change the name, I would just never reveal what it was originally intended to mean.

Drak- Old English/ Germanic for Drake (dragon)
-nev: Common name ending for Northern European names in the olden days
Draknev sounds vaguely russian, vaguely German, I was planning on putting Agon Thalia at first, but as luck would have it, I completely borked the character that I wanted with the name Agon Thalia.
Agon Thalia, besides being steeped in mythology, it was the first character I made back when I played a lot of table top rpg's.
(im very comfortable with being a geek)

Well, you'll like this one Draknev...
Not exactly steeped in history or mythology from any culture.
I put my real name into a "what's your snowboarding name" generator and it came out Ply Backcountry, which i think sounds like a passtime for the KKK. Since I'm playing a bothan and I think the way that bothans get their last name is from a combination of their clan name and then their family name or something like that, so I put an apostrophe in where I thought might be appropriate.
Not a great story, but a story none-the-less.

Oh goodie, name 101? Well, we'll take my favorite, which is also from the "olden days of table-top games".
Hansalas Silverfox: Okay, story goes one day many many moons ago, back when I was the wee age of 11, a bunch of my "cool" friends invited me over to play a game with their older brother and his friends. I came to learn this game was called D&D. Anyway, all us gamers have a start somewhere and I'm proud to say mine was in the right gaming system and not something like Pokemon or Diablo (shudders). I liked Elves and Rangers, being a big fan of Tolkien. The group needed a Ranger type, so I agreed to play one. Being 11 and being a Tolkien fan, I wanted my name to be Legolas Greenleaf (my favorite character from the book, not the movie). Well of course the older kids had an issue with my "blasphemy", so I searched for something else. On the bookcase was the stories of Hans Christian Anderson. Hans struck me. So I took it and added "olas" on the end to make my version of Legolas, Hansolas. Greenleaf became Silverfox. Over the next few gaming sessions everyone began to call Hansolas, Hansalas, more and more. So after about a month I changed his name to Hansalas. It just sounded better. And my namesake and favorite character was born. He's still very much alive today still in D&D(although he's been in a folder now for about 7 years, waiting to come out someday), and in every MMORPG I've played.
Now how do you change a name like that for Star Wars? Easy. Back around 16 I started playing the Star Wars Role-playing Game. One of my first characters I made was a Jedi named no other than Haan-Salan. Same ring to it, but more Star Warsy. Now while I haven't made Jedi yet in this game, when I do you better believe his name will be Haan-Salan.

Whoa, total freakshow. I just posted in the other "What's in a Name?" thread about 2 minutes before I saw this one. I'll do a cross-thread double post. If I can't kill beasties, at least I can kill time...

Through the various generators listed here, my names would be (in no particular order)
Evale Sh'san (I put in the apostrophe for pronunciation purposes.)
Chch California (Which looks to me like 'Chi Chi California', which is more of a drag or porno name.)
Leaev Shisan (Not that bad, but I hate the way 'Leaev' looks.)

Now the real question is, how many name generators would you need to apply to one person's name before you can determine their full name, their mother's maiden name, the city they were born in, the street they lived on as a teenager, and the name of their first cat?
Hmmm... (If you haven't guessed, although Calc's name doesn't have it's origins in math, there are a few math-o-moticians cruising the boards...)
