A Ranger's life can be hard, a Ranger's life can be lonely, but above all else it can be gloriously rewarding.......
Here isone clip from my treks throughout the galaxy from a few months back. Thesestoriesremind me why I have followed my path and continue to hone my mastery of the skill to this day..... (sorry, it wasn't written in any proper form and jarbled)
**Barren Wastelands of Tatooine**
Arrived on this barren planet this morning on a mission to scoutan areamy hunting groupreceived information on Krayt activity. I holed up in a local lounge in Mos Enthato prepare for my trek into the Northern canyons. Pulling from my backpackthe harvests from the last hunt along with some acquired resources, I began to skillfully craft the tools I would need for todays venture; Adhesive traps, Sonic traps, Tech Base Camp, Food and drink for my time in the harsh environment, and a camo kit to conceal myself from hostiles. I didn't think I would have to be back on this dust bowl for awhile, but with thoughts ofreturn to my lush homeland..... I throttled my swoop and headed into the NE desert.
Several thousand meters later I reached my drop point given in the intelligence I received. I dismounted and carefully prepared to set out on foot. Applying complex camoflauge to myself, I re-checked my gear ensuring it would function flawlessly. The beast I was tracking would not be a simple task.... they are known to roam vast areas and can be quiteelusive. Using my mastery of the wilds, I carefully examine the surrounding areas to find a clue of creature activity. No signs of anything but some Kitonak tracks and a small Bantha herd that passed by earlier. I take a look around thehorizonwith my electrobinoculars and see a canyon about 700m ahead. "Now that would be a nice place to rest if I was a Krayt", I think to myself. Stealthilynegotiating the terrain atdoublepace in and out ofthesmaller hills and cliffs, I head in the directions of the large canyon.
Reaching the foot of the cavern, I stop to further examine the immediate area. "Hmmmm", I say to myself noticing the clawmarks in the cliff side. "Those are certainly Krayt clawmarks" One more scan shows some brush that was freshly disturbed. "They must still be in the area, not much more that 350m NW". As I moved closer I caught a scent on the wind and heard the roar of a Krayt. Crawling further ahead and peering through the brush, Iseea Canyon Krayt carelessly wallowing in the sands. I speak into my comm, "This is Chekula reporting in, target spawns have been located sending coords" I settle back into the bush and Ipull out my T-21,awaiting the arrival of the others. I stareat the Dragon as itpaces nearby me, not noticing my presence as I examinearea for tactical advantage.
"Vroooooooooom"...out of nowhere one of my party flies recklessly close the the Dragon's current location. It caught his scent and let out a bellowing roar. "Oh $Hit", I mumbled and reached for my backpack. I had to act quick because these creatures are quick and merciless. The Dragon reared it's head and began to lumber after my friend. I whistled to him to head towards my location and computed the trajectory for my attack. Just as my friend passed my location, I hurled a sonic trap at the following beast. **SCREECH** the creature is mildly stunned but is too powerful for it to have an useful effect. Knowing very well netiher of us would survive the brute without backup, I tell my friend to run and toss my adhesive trap at the creatures legs. **-ROOT-** "Now is our chance.....keep running! Amazingly enough the trap holds and is able to detain the enormous creatures whilewe retreat to safetyand wait for backup. 200m out I conceal my friend and await the rest of the party. He thanksme for saving his life andI rollmy eyes at him.....
Next time, pay attention to the coordinates.... these parts are not for those without mastery over the terrain and it's inhabitants. On that note,I activate the camp security perimeter and crawl into my tent to craft some more traps for the upcoming battle.............
