Thread: The truth cannot be suppressed even if it is deleted.

It has been nearly one year and no one can show that any proposal has made progress. Vague responses of optimism simply do not suffice. When these concerns are truly voiced they are deleted. Hmmm. And you honestly think that your time is well spent at the correspondant forums Calc. Maybe one day you will finally be able to concede my point Calculus.

Interesting. It does seem that some forum mod bothered to go through and delete some of the threads on our board. I guess that answers the question of whether or not the CSRs ever bother to come in here. As for why they were deleted, I recommend you read the community policies. And do be careful. They do occasionally ban people from the forums (sometimes permanently).

It's not surprising and it's what the policy is there for. But really it's only a band-aid solution to a rather basic problem: Ranger = Scout+ (and the size of that "+" is debatable).

Either way, I'm sure it happens less often here than in some other profession forums.

Having said that, I'd think there would be a moderator or two set aside to sweep the forums for valid complaints, recurring threads, neat ideas, etc.; and then forward them on to the development side.

We really need to help Calc get in good with one of the red names, like Kwee did with Runesabre in the Image Designer forums. Any ideas?

I have read the community policies and to my knowledge have stayed within them. It is not I who used profanity or offensive language that would be those of you. I can't help if no on ecan dispute my challenge to this forum and its correspondant to show that any progress has been made. Simply stating that the devs said they are optimistic is quite inconsequential and has not merit. And the faq that the CSRs have finally returned to this forum after I have posted in many forums that do recieve attention such as InLive, Bria, Droid Engineer, and Chef shows that I may have already accomplished more in a weekend then this forum has in nearly 1 year.

Rule 2: Be Friendly and Courteous
Everyone wants to have a positive experience while on the Forums - please make sure that you contribute to it. Please do not post anything harassing, threatening, abusive, lewd, or inflammatory. Flaming people, products, or organizations is never acceptable. Neither is trolling. Instead, be friendly, helpful, and supportive.

Technically speaking, your posts could be construed as being inflammatory. Their whole point was to rouse passion over the current situation. Whether that is a good or a bad thing to do, it technically goes against the stated policies. Just be careful not to get banned over something like this.

Banning or censorship is a tricking constituitional dilemma.

DND we were at least given attention by the CSRs who would undoubtedly have to document any deletions. So we were noticed and hopefully they yet remain. Mayhap a dev will swing by. And neither Calculus nor anyone from this forum has yet to offer anything that has resulted from this fourm's correspondant interaction with the devs. If you disagree DND or anyone else offer some definitive proof.

Serraphin, this is just a suggestion. You should change your name here to Sisyphus.

Why? In Greek mythology he angered the gods and was punished in death to continually roll a rock to the top of a mountain, only to watch it roll back down again... then start over, again, and again, and again, for all eternity.

You're trying to single handedly roll a profession (Ranger) up a very large mountain (development) by posting inflammatory comments in the forums. The odds of success for you are about the same as for poor Sisyphus actually finishing his task.

I personally have no idea (other than time) what it will take to get any attention focused on this profession and I doubt anyone else here does either. That aside, posts like "Image Designer Trumps Ranger!!!" certainly aren't going to help our case. Rangers are not alone in the developer neglect department.

There are two things I know to be true. There's no difference between good flan and bad flan, and there is no Ranger revamp in the "near" future.

I can agree with you on many points but since when has speaking the truth become inflammatory? And why is it that everyone here ingores my main point that not even Calculus can offer proof that anything have come from the various proposals and submittals. This means that what has been done is not working and when something isn't working you try another method. Perhaps being a correspondant is more improtant then serving the community you represent. Since nothing thus far has worked then the correspondant should say gives us something, a clear timeline or I quit and there will be no correspondants behind me until you offer our forum something tangible. Can you dispute this?

No, actually. It's not. This is not a PUBLIC forum. This is a private forum that we are allowed to use as per the contract we entered into with Sony Entertainment Online when we purchased, and while we continue to pay for, their product, also known as Star Wars Galaxies. Part of that contract is your agreement to work within the bounds and rules they place upon interaction within their property (namely, this forum and the Star Wars Galaxies game).

If you came over to my house and started arguing about something and wouldn't stop, I could remove you from my home and there is no 'free speech' anything you can do to get back in and keep up with it because, and here's the kicker, it's MY home and I get to decide what gets said in it and what does not. Within reason. Because that's the law.

It's the same with a business, except for the fact that they must clearly post, state, or otherwise make available the restrictions they place upon your using their facility or premises. "No shoes, no shirt, no service" is functionally equivelant to "Don't do this or we will delete your account." As long as it is not prejudicial (and there is NOTHING prejudicial about requiring people to be polite and constructive), it is within their legal rights.

Period.

Now, as to the rest... you mention that you want proof that SOMETHING has been done. Yet you know nothing has. We all know it. But guess what? That's COMMON. The answer is, there are only so many people who are developing Star Wars Galaxies. They have to try to balance bug fixes with new content. Why? Because they need to KEEP PLAYERS. Most people don't play Rangers. Most people want new content. If most of your customers want new toys, you provide new toys. That's simple economics, there. And that's what the Devs have to do - play to the majority because the majority pays more money than the minority.

That said, I believe that in their hearts, the devs want to do right by everyone. I'm a developer - not of games, but of software all the same. If something doesn't work right, it bothers me. EVEN IF the boss says, "We don't have time to work on that right now. Get this new thing done instead." Well, I've only got so many hours in a day to work on things and if new content takes up all my time, then I can't very well fix the bugs. If you want to blame anyone, blame the management for what they schedule as being important. Blame them for not hiring more developers, though this is dependant on whether or not they're making enough money to satisfy investors AND hire more developers.

Running a company which provides a service is not an easy task - things have to be prioritized. I think it's bad that Rangers, scouts, and many other "broken" classes aren't all that high up on the list, but yelling about it isn't going to improve things unless the broken classes suddenly become the majority of their paying customer base.

A final question - would you prefer having thirty-some correspondents collecting issues into a few posts which the developers can read and (ostensibly) ignore before they roll up their sleeves and get to making the new content that is upsetting you so? Or would you prefer they interact with us directly and have several thousand posts to read and ignore before they roll up their sleeves and go home after having just spent the whole day reading posts?

#1 I didn't pay to enter your home in that example.

#2 No one has answered my standing question: What is has the coorespondant position achieved after nearly 1 year for this forum. Is it thateveryone knows the answer to my question is nothing but can not bring themselves to answer it.

It is a fair question and I have a right to ask.

If Calculus can simply Post the following "Nothing definitive has been done to improve the Ranger profession as a result of the Correspondant position" then I will be gone.
