*nudges Vorpaks gently* Of course it doesn't. I'm just minimizing my exposure to the heat by using the fastest mode of transportation available to me. Plus, you know what they say about 4x60 A/C...

Yes, I discovered this also on TC. I also discovered that once you get the concealment line in Rifleman, it all goes to h3ll. I can now FIRMLY confirm that this combo of profs do very ugly things to /maskscent. Using it on a bike can help you get away, but I was attacked using MS! Right after getting my first camo kits! Very disturbing indeed... not to mention it happened at 64m. Devs need to have a serious look at this code, I fear that it's all mangled together.

As I slowly drop Ranger on my live character I slowly pick it up again on my TC character. It is amazing how much has changed! I leveled Ranger when maskscent was.. broken? Anyway, it never broke and gave no xp. Today it is a whole new galaxy for Scout/Rangers.
I happily ran TC Paks around Naboo, killing flewts and narglatches and drooling over faambas. One day I *gasp* have made enough to buy a speeder. Ahhh... so nice. So I am speeding around from mission to mission and I get on my bike with maskscent still on. And watch in amazement as scouting xp scrolls down my screen as I drive back to town.
I realize I have entered the dark side of rangering.
Back in town I get two more missions and stare at my bike for a while with my finger on the maskscent button. Do I? Do I not? A moral dilemma. *sweats* I click the button. I click it off again. What do I do?? I store my bike and run to my mission feeling dizzy. Ironically I forget to maskscent even though I am running and almost get incapped by shauputs.
Rangers these days have a whole different set of challenges to face. Difficult to role play. Difficult to resist the grinding path. I remember trying for two hours to get maskscent to work against wrixes when I first started. When I got it to work - ahhh, the feeling of accomplishemnt and pride! When I crawled into the cantina (there were entertainers in Dearic back then lol), with my bars black from many deaths (not enough cash to clone) my entertainer friends oohhhed and ahhed over me. I got much petting and hair combing as they healed my mind wounds. It was lovely.
Since then I have become a much more efficient hunter. I am annoyed when maskscent breaks, not overjoyed when it works. I never camp. I never trap. I use my speeder. Am I even a Ranger? I started my TC character to test the Ranger changes when they come. I am finding that what I need most (even more than I need survival xp) is to practice actually *being* a ranger, so I can enjoy the changes when they come.
I realized that it has been worth giving up Ranger - just for the joy of picking it back up! I am truly "re-learning" the art of Ranger.

Master CH, here. Every time I get on my speeder I tell myself, "I'm just saving my poor pets from all that grueling running. Yeah... Yeaaaaah... I'm being all benevolent like..."

Very entertaining post. I took my time going up through the scout tree and am guilty of xp harvesting with speeder. I thought it was great when I discovered it but have since thought better. It doesn't fit in with my character. I am now leveling up in Ranger and feel no urge to jump on my speeder and head to Endor or Dathomir. I actually prefer to walk around Tattoine and enjoy myself. You miss too much on a speeder.

I used to cross-country ski. I went snowmobiling once. I know just what you mean. But I think there's a better example than Tatooine.

Of course there's a better example but I used it because I consider Tattoine home. I like the other planets but always come home to the desert.

Lok is mine. But you better believe, scout or not, I'm on my swoop between "Home" and "Nym's Starport". The less time I have to spend out of air conditioning on a desert planet, the better!
