It should work like this, (well i would love it worked like that).

- you can only conceal yourself in the wildness, ie not in city and player city, not in POI zone aswell, just in the wildness.

- once you do, it does check a skill to see if the npc/mob/players detect you, depends on a few things, your +skillmod, if you are kneeling/prone/standing, running/burstrun/walking and the distance between you and them. (i'd argue a master a ranger could stay unseen at 30m standing from a non ranger player).

- if you enter in combat mod, you are not anymore in conceal mod, the npc/creatures can attack you, players see your "dot" on the radar and on their screen. You can not enter in conceal mod after 30 sec timer once combat ended also i guess you cannot conceal yourself if you are too close of unfriendly npc/creatures and players (read overt and if they have a TEF on you).

why add such things to the ranger you ask? well i think swg miss a "stealth" profession, think about the stealth class in DAoC or UO for exemple. I think the game definitly need one, i always loved to play the sneaky characters, backstabbing people is fun .

anyway, am sure it would add more spice to PvP fight that happen in the widlness, think about a ranger sneaking behind their foes and hitting them in the back and also attacking the weaker ones (damn .. i would love just to do that on combat medics wich usually stand far from combat).

maybe ... some perks for rangers? like cloaking device ect (well i'd like to see perks for all profession anyway).

Hope it doesn't sound silly and you like some of my idea, jsut want to make ranger a funnier profession. sorry for the bad english/grammar.

A more fleshed out version of this (thanks to the input of a lot of people) can be found by the stickied threads (stealth, the post you've all been waiting for (or dreading)).

It is something a lot of rangers want.

Totally agree. Rangers give up enough to grant such a skill. Traps/Camps in there current form are toys/useless. The game seriously lacks profession dynamics and this couple be the first step in that. On the same note I think Smugglers should be the equal to Rangers in Cites.
