Thread: Area Track or lack of it

Heres a very nice example of how bugged this skill is.

Im hunting anything that moves (after xp) so i clear everything around me in 64 m and use area track. It returns blank and im only looking for animals. So as its blank and its got a 500m range i pull my speeder out jump on it and open my ctrl-m map to make sure im flying away from the town, and low and behold the map is full of little yellow and red dots. No other players, All mobs not npc. So i get off my bike and try again and it shows 1 creature yet there are proberly 20 within the 500m range and the ctrl m map range at max zoom is around 500m.

This skill is even worse when u try and hunt a persific class creature, espically if u cant get missions for it. The idea is that its surposed to make it easyer to find stuff. Only way it works is if u fly around on ur speeder doing a sweep pattern around a spot to trigger all the spawn lairs then return and use it.

This skill really needs tweeking.

Constructive comment time.

We allready have creature knowledge, how about allowing a bestiry compendum for each planet to allow the ranger to look or track a persific animal. The abilty to track a certain creature should only be allowed if the ranger has personally killed that creature and harvested it. That way he knows what it likes to eat, the type of area it likes to live in, what hunts that creature, what tracks its leaves around.

This could be added as an optional sub menu to area track animals.

This has been suggested before, in a variety of incarnations. It however remains a good idea. No chance of implimentation obviously, but a good idea nevertheless.

Holocron (actually Greenmarine?) was the first to propose a /track skill...

Im not bothered who first came up with the idea. The fact that they have and nothing has been done just proves that area track has been broken for a long while.

I was responding to tsn saying there was no chance of it being implemented...sorry for the confusion .

Either way they still havent done anything or changed anything and its still pretty much a useless skill.

I wouldn't call it useless, tho. It just needs some updating (spawn rates are the biggest problem). Yes, /track will be nice once we get it, though.
