Land navagation true story...

The platoon was spit into our battle buddy pairs and we were given a map, compas and told what we needed to find. Me, being a show off, decided to shoot off about how I'd school this course in a few hours and be the first one done. Some kind of way, I got the compass and the map turned around and 6 hours of 100 degree Kentucky weather later, i'm feeling like a horses hind end as my battle buddy and I wonder into the rally point, LAST, dehydrated, tired with a standing ovation from not just my platoon but two others.

Never forgot that lesson and quickly leared the greatest motto that army can teach anyone:

"Accuracy and attention to detail saves lives. Now go beat your face cadet" (that's pushup for those of you that wouldn't know).

I see that you're in Texas also, are you still in or have you resigned your commission?

I'm actually moving back to Chicago in a few weeks. I came to Texas to go scuba diving off the coast, I resigned a few years ago.

A butterbar and a map with a compass = lost.

That is why they invented platoon sergeants.

I still recall a test in BNCOC where we had to be within 10 meters on a resection problem. On the training maps, that's less than a pencil width. And the problem had grid and magnetic azimuths in the word problem.

Wait til you play either in the desert, total lack of terrain features, or a jungle, too many terrain features.

I was an NCO for seven years before this so I know who to rely on in my platoon. I have a feeling I'll be buying my PSG a lot of beer

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

I traded in Faction Points and made 2nd Lt. today and I have a sudden flash back to being a RL 2lt and remembering how green I was then, I suddenly completely forgot how to hunt. So I dropped my rank tap and picked up my ranger tap and all was better hehe.

Any intrepid rangers looking to join a guild, i'm tired of being the only one and could use some hunting buddies?

I'm more worried about remembering how to use my friggin compass I pick up my butterbar on the 16th of April and my infantry platoon in May. That weekend my battallion has an eight mile ruck march down at Ft Hood.

Oh they most certainly can

I love this community, most Rangers on here are very supportive of the military. On my server's thread one young player announced his basic training date at Ft Benning and while most of the players were supportive, there were a couple azzhats that took to bashing right away. Some people will never get it.

And Plunk, yeah I am on Gorath as well, saw those posts and was disgusted. But hey I guess they are enjoying freedom.
