There is no chance of foraging a rare item. Initially that was supposed to be in the game, but as it stands right now, there are no rare items to be foraged.
The question was asked at one point, and the devs told us that the coding to forage a rare item was there, but it was linked to foraging a wedding cake that was larger than the inventory we have.
they might implement it in the future, but now... theres nothing.

Oh great, a wedding cake?
I guess I got my answer, even though I don't like it. Oh well, that's life I guess.
Oh, and by the way, 500 WOOT!

Ok, this has a 90% chance of being an old topic, but I'm clueless nonetheless.
I have wondered about this for some time now, because it's almost a description text of the box Ranger x1xx
but it does insinuate game value.
Does this ability exist anymore? I don't care what the item is really, 'cause I wouldn't sell it if it looked cool. I'm a packrat lol.

Aww man that melon I foraged last nightisn't rare. I guess I should stop trying to auction it for 5,000,000 credits. Best offer so far was some pocket lint and a broken datapad.

You think so? I was thinking of holding out for a cdef pistol. Perhaps you are right, I was just expecting too much.

no, take it! Those datapads can be put in those new picture printers or what not, and make cool new posters. Whee!

Actually, the broken datapads are put into datapad housings, along with plain "wiring," a datapad backlight / battery / connectors, and voila! A blank datapad! If you complete the datadisk repair kit, then place the resulting "Datadisk" into the empty datapad and the two items combine into a single randomly-determined piece of fiction. I've seen Meatlump Research, some cookbook pieces, and others.
