So, you probably think I'm going to complain about how "useless" some ranger skills are supposed to be.
Wrong!! I'm going to propose some more useless ones. Here goes...
1. Poor weather is supposed to hurt our aiming, right? I just think it would be neat (and more realistic) if better rangers were also better at aiming and fighting in bad weather than the non rangers. They would add some skill mod with a lame name like"weather negotiantion" or something like that. Heh.
2. I think it would be neat if rangers could build fires. I know that we can already make camp kits or whatever, but I think it would be neat if we had the ability to just place small fires around.. like markers or something. Yeah, I'm aware that waypoints are easy to use, but I think it's cool to be able to look far off in the distance and see smoke rising out of the forest or something. You would be able to do neat things with them.. set up a nice perimeter of fires, light a small area during night time (without having to worry about lairs or buildings close by).
So, those are my useless ranger proposals. Please don't make fun too much, but I'm sure you won't. I know this forum is full of love.

As long as the campfire can't be used as a shield to repel durnis... because that would be overpowering.

can you please keep saying that? i know a lot of people have been going on about the "bad mojo" going on in here, butI think we too quickly forget all the loving, happy posts we have.
As for the ideas-- i really like the fire one. It's just one of those skill that would be "cool". Not neccesarily usefull, but good. Although, I can think of a lot of times setting up a fire to distract enemy troops would be cool....
as for the weather idea, we've actually had some really in-depth discussion about how weather should affect Rangers. Check out the Geniuses thread stickied at the top. It contains a proposal from Owen about weather. I also contained it in my Outdoorsman 2.1 proposal.

Heh, about the love....
I've seen a good share of some pretty crappy posts, but I've also seen the love and brotherhood on here. I personally feel very honored to be part of this community. Anyway, thanks for actually taking time to read some of my posts, despite my newbie-ness and my rantings. I really appreciate it.

I could get behind this, but only if our fires have a chance to start a forest fire. It would be pretty cool to see, plus forest fires are part of nature's cycle. That's how nature clears out the underbrush.

it's those people that start their posts with "Ranger sucks.....tell me how to grind it".
you had a nice little comical twist. Welcome to the family!

Why would weather effect our aim? I mean come one max range is only 65 meters. Thats damn near point blank for a REAL rifle.
ever been out to the range in torrenting rain?
Yeah they normally close outdoor ranges in events of very heavy rain......why is that?
It's not only because most people have the common sense to get out of the rain, but it's also because no one can see!!!!

I like these ideas. The fires could be used to light outdoor player events.
Different fire sizes depending on Ranger rank would be cool.
Novice - camp fire identical to in camp fires.
Frontiering 1 - Same fire but with a spit to cookkreetles over
Frontiering 2 - Double size fire with spit for cooking Carrion Spat legs
Frontiering 3 - Triple size fire with spit for cooking Ewoks
Frontiering 4 - Quad size fire with spit for roasting Gungans
Master Ranger - Bon Fire for parties, warding off beast, and the occasional Dark Lord of the Sith cremation

As to point 2
I like the idea, but I could see it being used to grief others or bring a server into steady lagginess. Instead of fires, how about something a little more high tech. Like those razercoil lights you know the old lights that you could place but they didn't lightup so we'd drop torches in the middle of them. Call them Ranger Flares, allow up to 5 to be deployed based on skill on the tree or something. Could be usefull if they move forward with LOS and increased viewing distance.
On that note, they should have a Flaregun, artisan crafted that allows you to load fireworks into it and launch thatway.
As to your newness. We were all new once.

Even so, 74m? Have a bloody airgun that'd fire twice that without breaking a sweat.
Always bugs me about rifles. Then the fact you can hide your shot when your firing a gun with big bloody obvious bright red glowing laser beams. lol.
