in the CU if you have a special i.e. underhand shot from BH carbine 1, will you be able to do that special with any ranged weapon, i.e. pistol or rifle? Or will it stay with the specific weapon intended? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Any ranged special can currently be used with any ranged weapon (and the same goes for melee).

I believe it can also be used with melee weapons as well. The hint they gave about specials seems to imply they will work with any kind of weapon unless the special expressly states something like "needs and automatic weapon to work", which there is at least one like this and thus only can be used with weapons that can be classified as automatic.

But ranged weapons only work with ranged specials, and melee specials only with melee weapons, right?
As for the automatic weapons requirement.. Is that just another way of saying "ranged weapons"? I have master carb/master rifles and a few days ago I tried going through some of those specials with all the rifles and carbines, and I never found one that didn't work.
Maybe all the marksman branch weapons are "automatic", but things like rocket launchers, flamethrowers, etc aren't?

The automatic thing is a relic of an old system. My guess is that all ranged weapons currently fall in that group.
