I love ranger as a prof. Its the only one I've master twice. I love to hunt animals on contract.

After playing with the CU pretty extensivly I'd need master ranger to have the following to make it worth keeping to me:

1) TRAPS THAT WORK

If I had traps that would hit most creatures and NPCS on the first or second try (as a MR) and apply the following states and have them last more then 10 seconds: ROOT, SNARE, DIZZY, KD, and maybe Lower Target Armor (break), Lower Target Accuracy, Lower Target Attack Speed.

2) Defensive Modifiers
Both Melee and Ranged defensive modifiers. I would like speed but that might be asking too much

Otherwise I gotta go build a template that will allow me to ROOT, SNARE, Bleed, etc. These creatures are tough and traps would really help.

Just my $0.02. Currently I'm playing with the Smuggler and Pistolleer just to get the ROOT special.

I think we all agree we would love to see traps work better. They have never worked on NPCs, this is something we have been asking for for a long time, now just about every other fighting profession has this ability to work with players, npcs and creatures, but our traps are only useful against creatures and nothing else.

I would agree with you that we definitely need all fighting bonuses which means offensively and defensively. We fight just as much as any so-called combat profession.

It's worse then that. Lets say your MBH / MR. That makes you lvl 80 right.

but you've got the same combat skills of a lvl 54 (MBH alone).

Doesn't that mean your stuck trying to battle creatures 25 lvls over your head without any additional bonuses.

I went onto the TC last night. Did lvl 80 missions as MR / MBH or MR / Pistoleer Couldn't get one trap to stick. /sigh

not to mention getting my a$$ handed to me, but that could still be partially due to trying to figure out the new specials.

hmm...

CL is actually a surprisingly big part of the combat skill of a character (and is one of my main dislikes in the CU). Recent changes have toned this down a bit but just having the extra CL still makes you more powerful. A CL 80 Ranger/SL is likely to be a lot more powerful than a CL 1 TKM/MSwords/MFencer (if you could just turn your CL down). But the extra combat power can make a significant difference.
