Thread: CU : Ranger Bugs / Issues

Hello everyone I was telling Owen-Lars (Our Lovable Ranger Correspondent) that it would be good to have a Central thread where we keep an up to date list of known Combat Upgrade Bugs and Issues we have with Ranger in the CU. He suggested I post such a thread so here it is.


When posting a Bug and or Issue be sure to Read the current list below (which I will attempt to keep up to date as time allows).


Follow the Guidelines when posting information.

Known Bugs :


  • General

  • Camouflage / Maskscent


    1. No Way To Apply Camouflage at Present. (/conceal no longer functional)

    2. No Icon Telling us when Maskscent is On

  • Trapping


    1. Traps do not seem to fit into the combat delays properly. A single stack of traps can be thrown almost instantly.

    2. Throwing different types of traps seems to add some delay, though. And trapping does not seem to make you lose any combat rounds. Some of this is likely to be working as intended.

    3. Traps don't auto target if you attack your group member (as other weapon attacks do).

    4. Trapping is not getting the Inspiration Buff bonus.

    5. Some creatures are giving a "The trap can only affect creatures." error message. Creatures listed so far include: "a spineflap soldier", "a spineflap handmaiden", "a spineflap guard", "a giant mountain worrt", and "a sevorrt". It has been reported that these creatures are also not harvestable after they are killed.

    6. Throwing multiple Phenacine Darts can cause a creature to completely stop instead of just slowing down. It even seems that the frozen state persists after the -snared- symbols float up.

    7. Rescue has no effect.

    8. Adhesive Mesh seems to be giving funky responses (i.e. throwing one does nothing but following with a Phenacine Dart causes a permanent root).




Current Issues :


  • General


    1. Master Ranger Currently Costs the Most SP of any Elite Profession. This severely limits our ability to have anything other then just our Elite Combat Profession with Master Ranger. We need some serious bonuses of some sort to balance the skill point cost, or a reduction of Skill Point Cost.

  • Camouflage / Maskscent


    1. No On / Off Icon(s) for Camo or Maskscent

  • Trapping


    1. Traps are not especially effective against targets at low levels (high miss rate).

    2. Trapping skills don't seem to do much in the CU at low player levels (no noticeable benefit--i.e. you are better off killing a creature without traps because you will gain no benefit from using them and throwing the trap wastes action and might slow your killing down). Mid level traps and combat seem to be a bit better off.

    3. There seems to be some contention on the effect of the defense debuff traps. Some people see noticeable benefits, others see no changes at all (I'm guessing this might be due to some creatures having 0 defense and so the debuff can't take it lower).

    4. Trap HAM damage (AM damage, really) is so minimal that newbie creatures regen all the AM lost before a second trap of the same type can land.

Though my CU: Progressions thread was intended to be for progression issues primarily, I've been updating it with all the current CU bugs and issues concerning the profession as well. Feel free to take a look.
