You do not need to be able to make any schematic but you can still use any schematic, you can buy (or have a crafter friend make) as schematics are only item you can put on a vendor to sell from datapad.
Just need to ensure you have the correct resources to make the item in schematic.

Yup yup, I am doing this atm. I am making camps, p-darts and various camo kits.
Get hold of a Weapon, Droid and General Crafting tool, you can find these for sale on the bazaar usually.
Next find a Weapon, Droid and General Crafting station and stand close to it. I have found that alot of Malls have one of these hidden away in the backrooms, you can use these most of the time, also there are public ones in most NPC cities.
Use the crafting tool in your inventory, do not use the crafting station, I did not realise this when I first tried this and spent ages clicking on the crafting station 
As part of the crafting process you will be asked whether you wish to create a schematic, select this and it will be placed in your datapad, amongst your pets, droids, vehicles etc.
Now you need an Equipment factory. I am using a guild friends one in return for contributing to it's runnings costs.
The factory is fairly straight forward, from an option on the radial menu you can Load The Schematic. Your available schemtics will be listed and you select the one you want to load. Then open the input hopper and drag from your inventory the resources that you made the schematic with into the hopper. Now take the option from the factories radial menu to start the factory. You can examine the factory to see what it is making, how long each one takes and how many it has made so far.

I have deliberately not mentioned Experimation when making schematics.
