I opened my extra character slot and was seriously thinking of making her a ranger. I promise not to wear hawtpants... too often.

Seriously, is this profession worth pursuing? What are the advantages and what are some cool things you can do?

We can track critters, NPCs and Players, we can collect lots of resources, we can occassionally hide our prescence from animals and NPCs, and we can crawl really fast and we can make monkey jokes.

And, um...

Once you go Ranger, you'll always be angered. No wait.

Um. Once you are Master, you'll be so much faster!

Yeah. And when you put up the hunting trophies in your Hotel, people won't think you're a wannabe hunter, posing as a Ranger. I hate posers.

And we can throw uber traps, but only get exp for ones near our level and we can't stick traps on creatures higher than our trapping level.

You should be a ranger with your extra character slot for one reason: You'll have a ranger and a jedi. The rarest of the normal profs and the increasingly common 'alpha' class. That's gotta do something cool, like tear the very fabric of reality or make everything taste purple or something.

We look good in Camo.

And we can come up with very long acronyms to tell people we don't like hotpants.

i was also thinking of becoming a ranger.

my questions are:

is ranger an all or nothing profession?

if i want to go track and trap krayts, is ranger --44 enough?

Technically, Tracking 3 and Trapping 4 should be all you'd need to find and trap a Krayt. and the Tracking line also gives you the harvest bonus if you plan on resource gathering.
