OK:
When I noticed that crafting camps and traps had peaked my crafting XP I got Artisan on a whim. Just from crafting my traps and camps I got up to Engineering III in two days. So now my experimental quality for the phecnacine and glo wire is around 21%. But the experimental durability always seems to stay around 0 - 4% even after using all types of different materials.
I hope trapping skill eventually affects experimental quality and durability but until it does anyone have suggestion on what materials to use for traps?
Also the traps seem to last longer now that my engineering skill is higher.

Use materials with a high Decay Resistance (900+). Overall Quality shouldn't play a role in manufacture, as the schematic doesn't call for it. I actually think this is bugged for scouts, as any other profession (medic, artisan) that requires experimentation adds an average of one experimention point per +10 skill mod (i.e. +10 camping, +10 trapping). We shouldn't need Eng I to make quality tents and traps, but it's looking like we do at the moment.

After thinking about it, I had Eng IV and Food/Clothing IV when I made my schematics. If any of you guys on Chilastra have these skills, could you PLEASE let me know? If not, I'm dropping medic as soon as these new traps come out (I'll throw in materials for your traps and camps if you make my schematics)

Decay Resistance - Check. I'll use stuff with high decay resist tonight. Thanks!

Decay Resistance is the most important.
I've said this on other posts though. Artisan skills do absolutely nothing for you right now.
I have Eng IV, Dom Arts IV, Surveying IV... you get exactly ONE experimentation point to spend, with a failure probability of 57-63%. You can NOT experiment on quality since it as at 0% for some reason. You can try to experiment on Durability but it apparently does nothing.
Experimentation pretty much just makes things worse. Just use high decay resistant resources for your best chance at making quality traps and camps.
Thanks,
