I thought I would bump this old thread I posted on 8-23-03 LOL

I guess things HAVE changed a little since then...

Let's try and use this thread to create ideas for what to do when you have reached Master Ranger status.

We don't need experience, so what do we do nowwith our new found skills?

I have focused on finishing up my misc skill points in Medic,Carbineer and Ch but once that's done.

I guess I will look for groups and tag along and put up my pretty tents, that is unless I have people shouting, "No, I need the Xp let me set up my little multiperson camp!"

I have continued to buy and sell hides and have established a small list of clients and the resources they need.

My friend is a Chef/pistoleer so it's cool he gets to use my food and chemical crafting station, and I use it to make stim B's, I chose the 3/2/0/2 path for medic.

My chef friend is trying to get to Master Chef so I have been running his harvestors and generators for him and helping him out. We may open up a food shop. That keeps me busy.

I want to join the Rebel alliance to participate in the story, that's gonna take some time...

That leads me to an interesting unofficial profession. "Assistant Leveler" people could hire me to help them level up.

I would really like to get on some big hunting expeditions. I really should be leading them, along with a squad leader, that would be a good group. I am gonna lay low for a while until more of the new changes take place, then we will have even more use in a group.

My only reason for killing animals anymore is for missions for cash and to sell resources.

I need to maintain my lifestyle of a house, weapons and armor so that keeps me busy. So I guess keeping a steady bank account is time consuming.

I will always be available to help guide and teach the other new Rangers and always take the time to explain my personal strategies to those who /tell me in game for advice. I find that meeting someone half way to teach them is kind of like content in itself and you establish a rapport with the fellow rangers.

As you may sense, I am starting to get bored with the gamenow... I would really vote against grinding to Master Ranger like I did. Slow down a little and enjoy the game and enjoy getting there. It was a rush to get there but now I don't know what to do with myself because I knew nothing but grinding since the start, that now that I don't need to grind, I'm a little lost and don't know what to do with myself...

I hope this thread can generate a few solutions to help find out what to do once we have reached Master Ranger.

I dont know about everyone else, but when I get to Master Ranger, I intend to act Rangerish. My main goal after reaching Master Ranger is exploring all 10 planets, even if 90% of every planet is a whole lot of nothing, I will still have fun doing that.

Geez! I just don't get how some of you can be so bored already.

Have you seen all the dungeons, caves, swamps, hidden bases, planets, cities, Jabba? Have you gone to the Emperors Retreat and done all the quests? Have you explored all the planets and seen all the landscapes, mountain ranges and different types of beasties? When someone asks "Where can I find a Guf Drolg?" or whatever it is they are looking for, can you tell them where to find it? Do you know which animal provides the best quality Domesticated Meat? Do you know which type of blast (energy, heat, acid, etc.) is most effective against a certain mob?

These are all things I would expect a Ranger to know or learn.

Have you fought and killed a Dark Jedi? Have you led a group of rebels or Imps on a surprise raid? Did you finish the current quest for the storyline and earn your badge? And if so, did you find your own disks for the story or did you just buy them off the bazaar or other playerslike many folks have?

If you have done all this AND ground your way to Master Ranger within the two months this game has been out, then yes, I could understand you being bored!

As for myself, I am still having a great time exploring the different planets and seeing new landscapes and beasties and doing various quests.I am an explorer - that is why I picked this profession. There is still a lot for me to do even though I am a Master Ranger. And though I may carry the title, I in no way claim to be a know-it-all of the game.

I am new to online gaming, but I have learned from this game that it is what you make of it.This isn't like the games I'm used to (Diablo, NWN, etc.)where I am lead through from act to act. There is a story to the game, but I get to (read: have to) decide how much I want to immerse myself in it. This game simulates 'real world' almost too closely. I can spend all my time working on my career and earning money while missing life, or I can spend my time bumming around the countryside checking things out. Or if I work it right, I can do both. The point is, this game requires more work from me the player, to get involved in the overall story and quests.

Perhaps what bugs many of you is the fact you go to work all day, and then come hometo play SWG only to find you have to work all night too!!

That's exactly what I plan on doing once I get this last 25k of Camp XP. Ill pay my house on Tatooine for a few weeks and gonna explore all the worlds.

I've already done/killed everything there is to do on Tatooine and it's time to move on. I'm hoping that they're gonna be adding more Theme Park like multi step missions.

Did that. I tried real hard to act Rangerish on my way to MR and I did enjoy the traveling. I always thought we should get XP for travel, or total meters run, or "you found a new discovery" XP
