No, Gef, it's a train.

I do rifle as well, though I picked it just because I liked the sniper concept and not because of any particular blending with ranger skills. I have Expert Pistol and Expert Ranged Support, so when things get close I switch to pistol to Warn them away, then pop them with the rifle again when they get out to about 50m. Yo-yo mobs, such fun.

As of today I'm a proud owner of a freshly de-re-nerfed T21, built within the last 24 hours or so. Can't say I can complain seeing 1000 damage scroll by in my combat window while 1800 floats away from the head of a dune bantha (though most shots are lower). You definitely need melee or pistol or something for close range, though, because at point blank that gun WILL miss, and you WILL wait a long time for it to be ready to miss again, and you WILL take lots of damage while you wait, at least if you're a fledgling rifleman like me (novice plus 2 boxes).

Like I have always said, choose which profession, and which profession you have the best feeling with!

It's stupid to choose a combat profession just because you'll have a little bit more power.

I play a Wookiee, Ranger, and Fencer, even if it's not the ;ost powerful choice, it's just wonderful to see a Wookiee wth a Ryyk Blade, hunting wild creatures.

What weapons do you all use for your ranger? What applicable skill trees?

Ok so I've only seen this thread or a familiar thread like 3 times today.

I use Rifle. because in my mind that just seems to fit the best with the image of a Ranger. I also use a two-handed sword because rifles suck at melee range.

Im mastering the carbine as well as ranger. Although the rifle makes more sense for a ranger, I picked the carbine because -everyone- is either a pistoleer or a rifleman (pretty much the same philosophy that led me to being a ranger in the first place).

Or it could be that Im a glutton for punishment, since both professions are pretty borked right now. At least rangers can see something like a light at the end of the tunnel (boy I hope that ain't a mirage).

Pistols with the occasional rifle shot for fun and giggles.

Buy well, get them sliced, take care of them and you will live long. Buy cheaply, shoot them to death, and I will toast you in death.

Hand to hand - with a freaking Rancor? Swords/pikes/vibro anything - with a freaking Rancor and its friend?

Ok, y'all with the sharp pointy things think a minute - consider this - Roman Legionaire with his gladius v. Rambo with his M60. Its called evolution people, there is a reason for it. People with sharp pointy knives and poles who bring them to gunfights are soon removed from the gene pool, ensuring that fools die off.

Yes, they have their place, it's called a museum.

And while I am here, waiting to log in... THEY ARE WEAPONS. Not guns. See Full Metal Jacket and you may learn something. You should see the tells between me and my smuggler buddy when some fool asks for his "gun" sliced.... Its the Seinfeld episode with the Moel all over again.

Carbines all the way... I like to freeze the creature with ActionShot 2, watch him bleed, and spam him with other special moves.

Many times, when I've bitten off more than I could chew and the creature incaps me, I watch him die from bleeding out... it's likea kick in the b***s from beyond the grave.

Carbine, woo! I'm a big fan of special moves, and while it may not make much sense to be a Carbineer when using four or so will kill you, I don't need to worry about being eaten up at close range like a Rifleman, or waiting to be eaten up at close range like a Pistoleer because I can't hit that thing 20m away. Goes great with Traps, which I am also quite fond of.

Carbines are getting an across-the-board HAM reduction. GIVE US SOME LOOOOOOVE.

Also, anyone who says smack about not being able to do damage can be firmly rooted as I ActionShot you, and then unleash a FullAutoSingle2 (which has the coolest name.. Full Auto, BWAHAHAHA). When I got FAS1, I was killing Squill with that sucker. =D

I was going to go Fencer for a bit, as that'd save me some SP on Ranged Weapon Support, but then I realized I'd miss out on Creature To-Hit bonuses, and being a Ranger, won't always have a group around to help me with that Rancor. @_@ ..the durnis constantly owning me didn't help. I'll get those durnis. I'LL GET THEM GOOD!
