Dear Ray,

I am truely sorry you feel this way about the game. I can't understand how anyone could feel so empty about a game like this unless you were not trying to make it a fun game to play.

I have met you on the game on several occasions and I greatly admired your rapid ascent to Master Ranger. I felt you to perhaps be a tutor or master of the craft. I envisioned you opening a PA or "Guild" to train up and coming Rangers. These were not my ideas... these were yours. Yet now I read this posta nd am dispared. You say this game isn't fun. You even give a list of well picked out faults. Some people post on your thread and agree with you...

Ray, you are right there are several aspects of this game that need to be fixed. Several bugs. Several extremly annoying facets that have either been there since the games release (or in some cases before) and some that were placed there purposly by the devs.

But Ray where you are not right is that this game has no depth. You say PvP is total crap (paraphrasing), then don't PvP. I know a lot of people who enjoy the PvP in this game. I myself enjoy it from time to time and there are two kids that live just south of Bestine who have made quite a name for themselves PvPing. So find something else Ray. Role Play. Buy a new outfit. Open up a hide selling buisness. Make that guild you where talking about. Just don't say the game is shallow and meaningless just because you have all ready mastered your proffesion. Find a way to fit it into SWG society. Be RAY.

I almost powered through my proffesion like you did Ray. I am also a ranger and yes I made every trap I had to throw at the same high level animal to get quick exp and yes I went to Lok and made sure I was the only Scout in my group so I could get 2200 Scouting Exp every time I stripped a Kimo. But then as I was about to start grinding my way through the Frontiering branch(whichI was not looking foward to)I realized, who goes some where and sets up tent after tent?

No one. The game was no longer an RPG. It had more or less turned into Pokemon, and I was sure I was going to level up fastest.

So now I don't build camps unless I need them. I don't sit outside Fort Tusken and swap every 6 min or so (ok I tried that last night and it was no fun). I play my character now. I offer to take crafters who have never left Tatooine to see Ewoks on Endor. I take my pistoleer friends to see a Nightsisters SInging Mountain Clan battleground. I Sell exotic hides. I make plans to go fishing on Corellia with a man that made my green Spec Ops duster. do these things Ray because they put fun into the game. They add reality. I have the deed for a medium house on Naboo that I plan to retire in. Ray I'm making RETIREMENT PLANS. Role Play a little. .

Now this isn't for just Ray the Ahazi Ranger. This is for anyone who thinks this game is a broken promise. It really isn't. There are a lot of cool things to do besides killing stuff, which don't get me wrong is a blast and I kill stuff every night I play. Go to the Cantina with your friends (that are a thousand miles away) and have a jawa beer. Some of you might say why it gives you no extra health. Do it because its fun. Its Role playing, bringing people from across the world together in a great setting.

No I appologize that this is really long and probably really boring to most. but if just one person reads it and it revamps this game for them than that is worth all the flaming you guys can throw at me. I appreciate you reading this far.

...And Ray... I'm still waiting for that Ranger Guild, headed up by the eldest Master Ranger on Ahazi.

Bravo!! Nice post.

I too have spent much more time roleplaying than trying to "level" and the roleplaying aspect has actually been much more fun than getting to Master Ranger.

The only "leveling" I did was for that last 38k wildnerness survival... asking a group that I always hunt with to be a bit more careless today and get hurt more so we need my cool field base instead of the silly little basic camp that gets dropped by whatever noob scout has joined our group that day (no, we're not stopping just to stop... no wounds no stop, let's kill.. I get ALL camping today). The combat medic loved the chance to heal a lot and spend some time making more stims for battle and to help his org chem experience level.

If any of you who read this post feel the same way Lastee does, or agree with what has been said the please post it underneath. The people who have all but given up need to hear that there is a better way to enjoy Star Wars Galaxies.

Also I apologize for my horrific spelling

You know people take this stuff way to seriously. Please dont take this as a flame, but c;mon its a game. Its a game that I liek very much and play wayyy too much (so says my wife ) but it is still just a game. Sit back relax and enjoy it. Dont let the nerfs and what not get to you. If you dont like something about the game then dont do it but please dont cry about it.

I consider ranger a very unique skill set and I have a lot of fun with it. I admit to macro camping to level in frontiering but I am by no means a power leveler.

Ray if you are going to quit then I am sorry to see you go. I have dealt with you several times and for the most part you were very helpful. ALl I am saying is just reconsider what you dont like and work around it.

Ok Ill step off my soapbox and Im sure someone will flame me for something but oh well...this isnt real life

I too am having a great time and I talked to Ray about his issues. But everyone has to make it their own game.

However, Soth', I am in the process of starting a Ranger only PA. Most of the other Rangers I have talked to are on board. Although I am not the eldest Master Ranger, how would you feel joining a guild started by the third eldest Master Ranger (promoted by Ray) of Ahazi?

Please check my post labeled "Ranger Alliance Force" if you are.

3rd eldest? That's insane! How dare you think you could run a guild of Rangers! 2nd eldest maybe, but 3rd?

Your outta your Zkull!

/sarcasm off

My hats off to you for starting this up. It's really cool to see guys coming up with ideas to make the game more fun. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

As for the discussion of PvP, I never thought this was an issue. It's great that there is a class specifically designed with +offense vs. animals in mind.I am glad to take a PvP hit and trade it forhunting bonuses. Thats why I picked ranger in the first place.

If I am just repeating what someone else said, my apologies. Thetop post with the big letters gave me a headache.

Hello everyone. THought i would search all the profession boards to vary up my daly routine and see whats going on in the world of starwars galaxies. I found this thread to be related to one i had posted in the Swordsman Forum. I think it can apply here.

I would like to say one thing.

When I think of myself in battle amidst the melee and whirl of the dance.

I DO NOT SEE myself switching weapons all the time. I fight with my sword, I fight with my cleaver, Ill fight with my hammer. But God Darn it. Ill fight the battle all the way through with that weapon. Its not realistic any other way. Except for maybe going unarmed to 2h or vice versa. And thats just on rare occasions. I dont like to think that my scrawny ass bothan carries about 400 pounds of weapons and equipment on him, and I play him as such.

Dont lose sight of this game. Its not just about macros and killing lots of stuff. Its about immersion into the star wars universe. Something many of us have been waiting to do for a very very long time. If it werent for the chance of me being able to create and most importantly BE the character I have always wanted to be in the star wars universe, i wouldnt be here right now.

This is also why im not rushing to become a master swordsman, or a master anything at that. And i do play ALOT. I feel that my character is growing up in this world from scratch, and that he needs to experience all professions and understand the universe, although never leaving the sword behind. I feel as if i am a more accomplished swordsman if i stop sometimes and do a few artisan missions or explorer missions. Or even the random missions and theme park missions. Hell, ive gone 8 hours without doing anything really at all except run around and immerse myself in the landscape and brilliance of what this game is. The amount of work involved in creating this game and the worlds is amazing and the Developers should be applauded for attempting such an once thought impossible task. Do it one day. Just go sight see. There are lots of things in this game, known and hidden that you can only witness if you put down your power hungry, super leveling freak weapons and just do one thing....

I haven't read every post, so forgive me if I am repeating someone....

I'm glad that so many people DO feel this way about the game (I do, too) but there are folks out there who don't enjoy a game this way. They LIKE watching the numbers go up and getting to the top faster than everyone else and being able to go after bigger and badder targets every day and wiping the floor with other PVPers. I don't understand that view myself, but I can accept that they are goal driven, and reaching those goals is what makes them happy. Just suffice it to say that They will never "get" our style of playing and We will never "get" their style. All the lingual wrangling in the world will never convince him to see it our way....

Having said that, here's what I do most days... I log on, I open my map and make a waypoint to a place I've never been. If I need some cash I go grab a couple of not too difficult missions that I can do along the way. I stop by the bank to make sure I don't need to unload any excess junk and I go. I don't always go straight to my waypoint,I almost always get distracted by chasing down something or other, or wondering what might be over that hill or in that copse of trees instead. Occasionally it's been dull, but beautiful; mostly its been an adventure. Pirates and swoopers and the likeabound in little hidden camps out there. I have yet to manage to escape from the Cultists of Lord Nyax...lol. I talk to the NPCs that I can, and sometimes take interesting missions, provided they'll bother to give me the time of day. Sometimes I meet other loners sitting in camps in the wilderness... or they find me. Before I log out for the day I take a peek at my Skills Sheet to see what kind of XP I racked up for the day. (That's not to say that on days when I am close to my next skill level I don't try extra hard to do that one thing I need the points in, though!)

For me, it works... that doesn't mean fun for everyone though, and I don't think it HAS to... he's gotta play his own way, and if he isn't happy...well...he's gotta go somewhere where he will be.
