Thread: Flurry Rangers Guild

I've been thinking about this for some time now and I spoke with others rangers and non-rangers alike and most thought it'd be a good idea. At the current state of things, I believe a ranger guild will be a bit lacking (like our profession), but with upcoming changes and such, something like this would prove really rewarding. So, anyway, the idea is to start a guild of rangers to provide group support, training, advice, etc. We could pool resources together to allow mass creation of camping gear for everyone to use and offer services to those in need of them (retrieving harvesters on tough planets is not easy for the full fledged artisan). For a master ranger, it's a walk in the park. As our skills become fuller over the next few months, we will have a greater role in this community, that's for sure. With those changes, we'll see a bigger population of rangers, I believe, and we should be able to gather a large community.

This is my first time conceiving something like this, so any suggestions are appreciated. I'm pretty sure I could provide funding to get us started and have some ideas already to make sure we progress.

Still haven't thought up a name. Suggestions are appreciated there too. So far, I like Phantom Order, Kusak Stalkers, or The Ghosts.Variations of these or anything original? Throw it out there to see what sounds good.

Ok, now some other stuff. The guild will not be factioned so to speak. I'd like anyone to be able to join. What happens on the PvP battlefield stays on the battlefield. So guild members partaking in that form of action should not bring issues with them as baggage. Leave it at the door. But I don't mind at all if you are factioned and participate in city raids. Totally fine with me and fine with anyone else who would like to join.

Location is undecided. I'm currently based on Mos Espa, Tatooine. I might be willing to relocate to a larger planet for travel purposes (Tatooine needs two jumps to get to most planets. So, we'll see about that.

Who can join? Anyone that is a ranger as their main profession. I'd love dual-careered rangers, as long as they could give something to the ranger community. So, Ranger/BHs that prefer to do bounties all day, no need. Many rangers love going solo, but solo hunting at least goes hand in hand with the ranger profession. Scouts looking to go ranger in the future may also apply, though I suggest that scouts learn how to be self-sufficient hunters as it was a great experience for me in becoming any adept at it. I think a ranger should really know what he or she is doing out there in the wilderness. You should be able to lead a squad out to where they need to get, only engaging in battles that can be won and knowing when to retreat. Sorry, now I'm getting into the realm of philosophy, I think.

That's all so far. Right now, I'd like to see if there is interest and then I'd like some suggestions.

If you want to discuss this more with me, post a message here or send me a tell/mail in-game when I'm online. Feel free to add me to your friends list: Anro

Fellow Flurrian here as well:

Well, I had been thinking of starting something on Tatooine myself, sort of a Ranger Hunting Expedition Guided Outings... (trying not to just come out and say safari guide).

Basically I was thinking of making a PA just outside of Eisley (don't know why I love that town so much) and then advertising at all the weapons and armor shops since weapons and armor sort of go hand in hand with big game hunting, letting everyone know that they can get a hold of soandso in the PAto coordinate an expedition on Tatooine for them.

This sort of thing could then be duplicated on other worlds...

Just a nutty idea I had.

hehe...suit of padded armor collecting dust in my inventory, but I use shields though. They're cooler since I hate having something knocking out my secondary mind stats...rifleman and armor don't mix well.

Those are good ideas though. We'd definitely need advertising. I've never really stuck around much in Mos Eisley. Used to do delivery missions from Mos Espa to Mos Eisley...that's about it. I'd really like to stay on Tatooine. Always seem to have fun there...jonesing to go home after spending a long day on a remote planet

I'll have to look around the planet some. Find some good real estate.

We'd probably need a general item factory to craft traps and camps. Harvesters for the materials are easy...chem/metal/bone/hide. We'd have to know our beastiary to the marrow. If someone comes up to us and starts asking "where can I find...." you say "shut up, we're going to Dantooine to find it, let's move out" ahahaha. Can't get caught with your pants down, not knowing where to find whatnor where nor how.

If this got big, I could see it spreading to other planets, where rangers from said planet specialized in hunting on that planet. But, truly specialized...not just something for show. You know the animals there, you know how to kill them, you know where to find them, etc.

I took a group around Dathomir the other day. About four of us made it around 4500m out of the science outpost to find some spiders. We got owned, but I felt good leading those three around, keeping them safe as we made our way to our target. We fought once against some nightsinger slaves because they popped out of nowhere, but other than that, we were ok until we met our fates with those freaking spiders (ever on Dathomir, trees are not your friends). More things like that would be cool. With conceal, I could see going anywhere without creatures attacking us and with humanoid conceals, we could escape the radar of everything, which we need...whole point of being concealed is to be able to escape detection, period.

Maybe when these friendly CSRs get to my slots issue, I can actually set up a PA hall. Until then, go nag the CSRs because three of my slots are being used up by missing harvesters right now....I can't destroy them or use them. They just sit somewhere on la-la land...

CSRs, where are you? I already made contact with one of you and you tossed me to someone else that hasn't given me a message in over a week and a half. Sony, hire more CSRs maybe? Maybe?? A week to get my issue resolved is a week of me wanting to drop a monitor on your Lexus.

After seeing your remarks on another thread, I lost most of my interest in anything you have to say. The rangers on this board take pride in being civil to each other, and to all newcomers with questions. That sort of response is uncalled for.

Yes we engage in debate, yes we argue certain things, but we do not flame or troll.

Ok, rek17. The poster wanted something that I believe to be a worthless addition to our skill line, which he obviously couldn't be aware of (the uselessness) because he's not a ranged fighter. No flame, no troll (it was a thread posted by ME, how could I be trolling it?) and if the person took offense to what I said, I'd apologize. Obviously, you took offense for him, but I can't do anything about that.

Either way, it's all good. Respect issues aside, I always try to speak firm. Most people can take it, so I don't think I'm too blunt.

Oh, I just responded to the thread in question, now that I realized which thread it is. My opinion still stands.

Now, stop posting in my thread and go post your opinions about me elsewhere please. Call me a troll and then go troll my posts. Get a life.
