Ok, since Tempest is a somewhat new server, there are not many of us Rangers present (**edit** those NPC Trainers). I am thinking of pulling togeather we few and going into business selling all those harvest we amass over our travels. My question to you Veteran Rangers of other servers... what kind of pricing should we go for? I know that 3/4 of the ppl I deal with get rahter pissed that I charge 6cpu for grind qual resources.

Now, I may be outta my mind here, but I believe we put a helluva lot more time into our resources than the average artisan. It's not like we wonder around for 10 min surveying, plop a harvester, then return in 3 days for our umpteen k of resources.

Basically, I wantour money's worth for our time spent.

Suggestions welcome..

I'm a new Master Ranger on Starsider and started selling hides as a novice. I'm stillnot certain on how i should be pricing my harvest. But one thing i realized though is that pricing can't be the same across the board for all professions.

Medics tend to pay more and be able to pay more for avian, herbivore and insect meat. This is a good thing because they tend to always want the highest of quality.

In general these are my meat prices (which ijust raisedbased on a reevaluation of my services and expenses):

Grind Quality (<300oq)= 3cpu (formerly sold this for 2cpu)

Decent Quality (300-600oq)= 5cpu (formerly for 3cpu)

High Quality (600-800oq)= 10cpu (formerly 9cpu)

Top Notch Quality (800+oq)= 15cpu-20cpu <- this varies according to supply and demand

Hide is a different story. Im still not sure on how to sell hide and was hoping other veteran of resource selling can give me some acceptable prices.

I have generally sold 500+oq hide for 7cpu and less for 5cpu or three depending on my source for collecting it and the buyer (i.e. any source that gives large harvest yeil and/or less difficult to kill, I can ease up on the price)

I did that on Shadowfire. I started Ranger Corp with the intention of increasing total gross harvests and having more success at meeting orders. It seems to be working. The idea is a good one IMO as long as the people you team with are honest and pull their weight.

I think you may have it the other way around about Meat and Hide?

While there are more Medic's asking for meat they cannot afford it at those prices. Medic's almost never get paided to heal and so they almost always pay to play. Now Doctors are a different story as they make big time money selling stim b's in factory crates. So anyone asking for big lots of meat can afford to pay the high prices.

How ever the armorsmiths asking for cheap hide can afford to pay because they make money off of armor.

As for the Ranger Company. I love the idea. How ever I am having more fun contracting as a Hunt Leader than harvesting for batch sales.

I take crafters out to hunt what they need. I get paid travel and harvesting plus tips and have a great time. Taking them out give them a bigger respect of what we do and they have a great time and get a bunch of xp under the protection of a Ranger (Rescue got to love it)

I lead hunts as well. I guess I failed to mention that type of service would also be provided. Pay a fee to have a ranger accompany your group, and provide the camps, and trapping skills, as well as tracking specific targets is to me, well worth the price. This is a relatively new Idea on Tempest, and for now I am hosting nightly hunts to let others experence what a Ranger Lead hunt can be like. Basically, I am hoping that word will spread, creating more clients for this type of service.

Camps would be provided by the company, as we could mass produce them through factories. Traps as well. God, what I would give not to have to craft for an hour to stock up for a few hunts...heh.

As for the prices, I created a post on tempest, about this idea, and most rangers there are agreeing that ppl will not pay the prices that u would find on other servers due to our new economy. I must say that I tend to agree on this point. Everything in our growing economy is dirt cheap from what I hear of the other servers.

Just have to wait and see. I basically posted this here for all servers to get the Idea and run with it. Gotta help out fellow Rangers afterall.

Well when i said "medics" i was generalizing for persons of a medical field. Generally all my clients ARE doctors. I don't think medics even have a specific meat type requirement but you do bring up a significant issue. Medics often do pay to play with no sympathy or help from group members. I knew a CM who asked for 1k from each teammate who wished to be revived because rez kits aren't cheaped. Some folks in the group were livid complaining that the money from missions was the medics compensation. LOL!

But yes i should have been more specific, Doctors have money (some have LOTS of it) and thus I charge them for it. Someone suggested to me that docs should be charged at least 30 cpu for high quality meat because they will make much more than that back. Personally I can't bring myself to charge that much and not feel greedy.

I've found THE BEST way to profit is to find ONE armorsmith and ONE doctor/surgeon/whatever with deep pockets, get hides for the smith and meat for the doc. I'm currently working a job getting 35cpu for one type of wooly and 45cpu for another. And they LOVE the fact that they have a "personal" ranger who they know will get them what they need. And I like working for them because they pay great AND realise how much of a hassle it is grinding out30k of Yavinian wooly or 30k of Corellian herbivore.
