Thread: Grinding out Frontering
absolutely fastest way to get survival exp is the following (you cant do this AFK tho, for that there's no faster way than a) grinding camps or b) sitting in camps all night and resetting them once an hour with a macro):
- make the biggest camp you can
- place the camp right at the waters edge
- fish and stand in the camp for 15 minutes (might be longer for the larger camps)
- disband, replace and continue fishing
here you will gain survival exp from making the camp, being in it and for fishing, you can get 100+ survival xp per fish if they are large enough, 500+ for the camp when disbanding it and some dozens for making the camp in the first place, so if you're lucky, you'll be making about 4k survival xp per hour, mind numbing isn't it?
This is why i prefer to just setup camp and sit in it each time i go get coffee, call a pet, do anything that i do while standing still.. it wont come as fast, but i wont go mad getting it.

I'll buy any decent quality fish meat you can deliver to my vendor
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about getting good camping xp. I dont want to macro because i dont like to cheat since its just a game. And i dont want to get suspended or baned. Im pretty close to becomming master ranger i just need to get camping xp. Any ideas would be appreicated!!
Thanks
crafting scout/ranger specific items (in other words the schematics given in the scout/ranger trees) gives wilderness survival XP. I grinded out a box just crafting items while waiting at shuttle/star ports.
Just set up a camp and craft away in practice mode (practice mode gives you an extra 5% and doesn't clog up your inventory) to get your xp.
skulllandbones, I'm sure you'll receive a lot of varies input on this, but here's my two creds. You're getting close to Master Ranger (major congrats, by the way!), which means you're ready for the nastiest of environments. I've found that I'm actually making Frontiering XP just as fast as scouting XP by using camps as intended. Gather up a group of friends (if you have a PA, this is a major help), and head to Dathomir or Yavin IV for a hunting expedition. Unless your group is absolutely enormous, or made entirely of master elites, the lairs there aren't going to be a cake-walk, so some of you are going to get banged up.
Believe me, I've had people in my groups ASKING for camps after every second lair or so, and you'll hit your XP max pretty quickly with a decent-sized group. I remember the scouting days when I had to beg to put up a camp. These days, I tend to have three Field Bases cooked up just so I can plop one down as soon as it's asked for.
Is this the fastest route? Definitely not, but for me it is the most satisfying. Your mileage may vary ![]()
I tried this a while back and the influence fo the camp didn't go to the waters edge. I also didn't get any xp for fishing. When did this change?
I tried fishing from my camp, but it disbanded itself. I may have strayed outside the limits of the camp, but I was inside my camp (graphically speaking) and it never told me I was outside it. I may very well have done this wrong, but I find fishing in the game very boring, so i wasn't upset. I got much more bang for my buck buy setting up my field base outside my guild hall and crafting like mad. My guild mates would run through and/or heal and chat with me to take away the monotny of crafting (I am a combat char, not a crafter). I used 2 crafting tools (in practice mode) since by the time I was done loading up one, the other would be finishing it's prototype. I also recommend only having 1 type of each of the components in your main inventory so that you can see all three resouces in the window, so there is no scrolling. I managed to grind through (hated to grind, but I could taste Master Ranger) Front 4 in 5 or 6 hours.
what i did for the last tier was hang out south of theed starport in the newbie spawn area. they were drawn to the field base like moths to the flame ''omg that camp is sooo ubar!!''. of course, i was also a musician at the time, and i gave people a little show while they hung out with me. it was great, after a little while, a whole band had congregated at my camp and we just jammed for like 2 hours. plus, i turned over the camp every 8 minutes, andmade crazy xp ![]()
the 'field base kit' takes 12 minutes to cap xp with 2 players sitting in it. pets and other npc's have no affect on the actual rate the xp goes up, from my knowledge. it just increases the xp cap slightly (that's what the 'number of visitors' stat does i believe).
good luck and premature congratulations!
As obvious, the best way to gather up several 1000 Frontiering Xp at once is to go on a few hunting trips to far away places which usually require a group of at least five or six players in order to hunt semi-safely. Your camps will be used often enough that you won't need to worry.
The second best way is to set up a camp is through the fish and camp theory. Very good if you plan on making some money off of fish. There is a HUGE demand for them from Bio-Engineers.
And finally...a trick that I have learned when trying to sneak in some Medical XP. Go out into the wilderness and attempt to locate one of the AFK Surveyors. They are obviously doing a Macro. Set up your camp right next to them so that you get XP at twice the rate of Camping by your lonesome. On top of that, making Stim Pack A's and B's, and using them to heal the AFK Macro Zombie will net you plenty (although not a plethora) of Healing XP.. which I am not certain, but it seems to help in speeding up the rate of Frontiering XP gain.
