Thread: Wayfaring IV new skill...
Ok, rangers can move quickly on land, run up the steapest mountains but shouldnt they also be fit swimmers, would a swim boost be possible? There are some lakes such as the one on dathomir that I'd love to be able to briskly move across.
Swim Speed + 30?
I can climb shear cliffs with ease, travers in zero-g environments (or so sayeth the description of the skill) run faster than thought possible.....yet I simply cannot step over those nice rocks that get in my way....nuf said

I am a master ranger and when travelling with non Rangers... perhaps master scouts... I see no advantage in traversing the landscape. I should be able to easily catch up or out run others.
I for one am thinking of giveing up... all my ranger skills. They all seem useless. Even tracking which i hoped would help does not really help a whole lot with a limit of 500m.
I mean... really, what advantage do you all find being a Ranger? What is the point?
Here's how I think Terrain Negotiation should have been handled:
Terrain Negotiation- A
- Scout:
- Terrain Negotiation +0-25 (Slope Movement)
- Terrain Negotiation +25-50 (Crawl Speed & Swim Speed)
- Ranger:
- Terrain Negotiation +50-75 (Slope Movement & Swim Speed)
- Terrain Negotiation +75-100 (Crawl Speed)
This layout would have made Master Rangers 50% faster than Master Scouts in all forms of movement, but if this were implemented now it would only be percieved as a Scout "nerf" as their Slope Movement would be decreased by 50% even though they would be getting a 50% increase in Crawl Speed and Swim Speed. This is the method I favor for it's equality.
An alternate solution to Terrain Negotiation would be:
Terrain Negotiation - B
- Scout:
- Terrain Negotiation +0-50 (Slope Movement & Crawl Speed)
- Ranger:
- Terrain Negotiation +50-100 (Overland Speed & Swim Speed)
This layout would probably make Scouts very happy as they would be getting an increase to Crawl speed while losing nothing. This would also make most Rangers happy as we would be getting two new skill mods towards our general Overland Speed and Swim Speedin addition to our Scout mods. I don't think Development will implement a general increase in run speed due to thier fear of unbalancing a profession with speed. Also, I don't particularly like this layout as it is less organic than the first method.
