Thread: Something I think I discovered with camps.

First off, I will admit that I'm a holo-grinder and my first one said "Master Ranger". I'm looking forward to learning more about this profession(over simple exp grinding, that is).

Well, now onto my post. The other night I was out and about and I noticed a player doing the AFK-let-aggro-mobs-attack-me bit. He was standing in the middle of a swooper spawn, wanting to learn fencing exp(he had a sword equiped). I remembered that when people heal in your camp it is supposed to help earn exp faster. So, I slapped down a brand new High Quality Camp Kit(got Novice Ranger that same night) and waited..... the bodies of the swoopers he had killed disappeared, but no more spawned. I waited 10 minutes before a thought occured:

Did I accidentally ruin this AFK-fighters swooper spawn? Do camp kits actually force any spawns in the same spot as it to end?

I am not sure.. but I don't think it will let you put a camp down on an active spawn. NPC's spawns are not indefinite. They spawn a few times and then die... just like creatures.

In any event I know I have been given the "You can not put a camp down this close to a lair" when there was no lair in sight. I assumed it was a non-lair spawn point.

I would say, yes, a camp 'closes down' a non-lair active spawn point within the camp radius.

I've seen a normally-constant spawn shut down cold the instant a camp was put up by someone on it, repeatedly, in fact.

Perhaps this is what they mean by protecting you from aggro creatures?

Even "non-lair" spawns have an invisible lair. It despawned in time is my guess. Some NPC ones might not have one tho, but there is a limited number of mobs it will spawn.

What used to be fun is to camo the guys doing this on statics spawns, but alas, como no longer works on NPCs.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

I'm going to test this out the next chance I get. I'll try it out on the Meatlump/Ragtag spawns that I frequently find and see how it works out.
