Thread: Grouping solo with a pet. /harvest

Has this issue been addressed yet? I find it vey annoying that when I'm solo grouped with a pet, I suffer a penalty to how much I can /harvest from a corpse because I am grouped with my pet. The workaround is there, but I'm too lazy to constantly group and ungroup with my pet to get the max ammount of resources. and I hate having to go thru battle without being grouped with my pet. If it has been addressed, then fine, but if it hasn't it realy should.

Nope, it is still a problem. For now the easiest thing to do is leave your pet ungrouped. :/

I seem to recall that at one point pets would not count as "being grouped". However, bugs in the system overran that idea and pets do count. They should, IMHO, as you are not solo if you are grouped. Solo is you and your weapon, not you, your weapon and a slew of pets. But that's my opinion, all you CHs can start yelling now.

I have also heard that killing a mob and ungrouping to harvest doesn't work, as the harvest is set at limits when the mob is dropped, not when harvested. Has anyone checked this out? I find it hard to believe, but as my pet is the village sissy now, I seldom use it, as in never.

I can see both sides of that argument, JB. But since my prefered character professions are Master Ranger, Master CH, with novice medic for stim usage... my personal weapon ability is limited to pistol 4 in marksman. So my pets are how I hunt.

Have not checked if the harvest sets at the kill or not as ungrouping/regrouping my pets each harvest would be too annoying to contemplate.

I don't understand the benefit of being grouped with your pet during the mission though. I can understand it when selecting missions, but not when you are out in the field.

People like to be grouped with their pets in battle to keep an eye on their ham bars.

Yea, there are two important reasons why you would want to group with your pet. The first is so that you can track it. How far away, what state, how much damage, etc. The other is so that you can get more powerful missions. But with the harvesting bug I never group with a pet anymore when I hunt

But the penalty to /harvest when grouped was added so that multiple scouts/rangers can harvest the same corpse just with less resource gain. when I am alone with my pet, no one else gets the scouting exp but me, but if I am grouped I still suffer the penalty to /harvest that was added to justify more people gaining exp off of one kill. The penalty is not to prevent people from using pets, or to keep people from grouping so why should it apply to me if I am hunting with a pet?

JBMat, my creatures are my weapons with many of my builds. (I change professions a lot, but many of them are not combat oriented.) What about me then?

<rant> Blah blah </rant>

You are correct that killing and ungrouping do not work. It is checked at the time of the creature's death, so ungrouping at the last second will work. An annoying work around, but it is possible. I suppose you could set disband and pet grouping macros as an alternative.

Or we could get this fixed. (Why are you laughing at me? )

Maybe I was confusing -

The DEVs said at one point solo included pets. However, bugs in the system precluded them from implementing this as to harvesting. Grouped is grouped at the current time, and this means the 60% cap on harvesting when grouped with pets.

Now, I am grouped with a medic. I am the only one getting scout xp (well I would if I wasn't maxed) and the doc can't harvest, so why should I suffer the 60% cap. Right now, I am not even getting weapons xp (that's max'd too, I been busy) from kills. But being grouped caps me.

It is only my opinion, me, just moi, that grouped is grouped is grouped - be it a PC, a pet, or a droid. You chose to not have a combat profession and went the CH route. I feel that having a tank with you is not soloing in the truest sense, and if you group to take the benefits, you have to pay the consequences.

So, when I say I solo'd an enraged rancor; and I did, quite by accident mind you; it was me, my trusty blaster, a load of traps, and a lot of pure dumb luck.

Do I care, nope, not really, as a BE owes me a decent pet for all the meat I dropped at his house. If I could get a better pet, or droid, I would use em in a heartbeat.

One thing I have noticed is that if you are grouped with a pet it knocks down your harvest but you still get all the mission payout. If you are grouped with a player you also split the mission payout. There is obviously a marker that distinguishes between a player and a pet. Why can't this be used to disregard the harvest split?

Did they fix this then? Last time I was running solo missions with a pet (probably a month or more ago) it did seem to split the payout between you and the pet.

yep they fixed the payout split. I think it was just before everybody at SWG went on Christmas break. Now it tells you how much the payout is and it is being split for your group. It then tells you how much your split is which is in fact the entire payout.
