I figured that I would pas this one on to the SOE forums as it is an opportunity for all.
Cut and Pasted from the SWG-Rangers news page:
Most of you have already noticed the appearance of a "sponsored by" banner ad at the top of the middle collumn on the news page.
FEAR NOT!!
This space is going to be used as an informational space, as well as helping me fund the website a little.
Here is how it works:
- If you have a SWG site, you can have a Banner Ad on our site.
- If you are a Ranger this Ad is free
- If you are not a Ranger, it is still free, but will only last for 1000 impressions
- If you want the unlimited impressions that all Rangers on this site will enjoy. You will need to make a donation to secure your ad indefinately.
You can learn more from the new Advertise with Us Menu option.
Your ad can be for your shop, PA, player city, anything you want to inform others of. It can even be pure pvp propaganda. I think this is a cool idea. It will not be intrusive like pop ups or unrelated advertising. Only SWG content will appear in this ad space.
Ads must be gif images 468w by 60h
The Page Banner was also changed to Reyune's Awesome Screenshot. I will rotate the banner to other screenshots as they are uploaded. If you would like to try to make a piece for the banner it needs to be 565w by 68h.

I like this idea. I just wonder how many players will really want to appeal to Rangers. As it is, there are not that many of us. Should we maybe consider some sort of more general purpose portions to the site as well? It's a great site but it does have somewhat limited range right now. It's a great site but I don't see that many non-Rangers frequenting it. Although you might be able to interest resource contractors. Possibly add a section (or a forum) for people to place and fill orders on resources? Especially if Rangers ever get a harvest increase

I will create that forum. One of the reasons I place general news on the site is to encourage the visits of other, non-rangers.
