Thread: Wonder what this could mean for us?

[17:33] [Runesabre] We have an extensive plan for revamping the GCW coming up. The general goal is to provide the means for every profession to have a tangible impact on the ongoing GCW struggle.

[17:33] [Runesabre] Each profession will be able to contribute to the struggle in their own playstyle (not just through combative means) and the balance of power between Rebels and Imperials should have a tangible impact on the day to day play experience of every player.

Key words, IMHO, were highlighted.

Not very informative, but interesting nonetheless. Any thoughts? I can't see Ranger, in its current incarnation, having any impact on the GCW. At least as long as we exist in the devs minds as just creature hunters. We exist more like the ranger of the Forgotten Realms or Everquest universe now I think. I wonder when they created this profession if they thought people would be mislead into thinking it was more of a Military style ranger.

Trapping pets?

Better camps?

Better recon skills?

Maybe a new hat?

When nothing in the program works, speak vaguely and promise much. Promises are cheap and no one (well, mainly no one) remembers them when they see a shiny new toy.

(btw, Milking was not a shiny new toy, it is a painintheass process that pays pretty poorly for effort expended--- sorry Devs, swing and a miss on that one)

Hmm, I guess this means I will become a faction farm for the Imperials. That seems to be the role I play now.

Struggle is right. Getting Rebellion players to join us in that Jedi brawl tonight was impossible. They were all afraid to take them on cause "there were too many". Result? 3 dead Rebels, a bunch of laughing Imperials. Thanks for helping out though Rey, was still a blast.

Most likely, the referal to "non-combative means" is in referance to the docs, or some other such nonsense.

But, you never know....

I would like to think that this means the devs may take a harder look at the para-military version of the Ranger, rather than just the "Ultimate Creature Hunter". It's something I've been lobbying for for a long time for our profession. I've stated repeatedly we're more than just hunters. Several other Rangers have posted different variations of para-military Ranger's in the Star Wars universe.

This would be a great area for Fred Skinner's stealth issue to come into play.

ROFL a new hat

This must mean something for us... But i Have said that about every DEV update post, and we have yet to get anything useful besides a change of tracking time, from 45 seconds to like 5. Whooptedoo. I dont think we are getting anything big anytime soon. And if this DOES in fact consider ranger as a profession, then we will likely be last on the update list.

Bingo...

Fred's stealth ideas would be amazing for us in the GCW aspect. but then again, JBMat's hat proposal has some merit as well
