Thread: I can't believe I'm going to do this...

I think the time has come to drop Master Ranger & the Trapping & Tracking Lines, While I won't be a master Ranger anymore I'm not dropping it all together as I can still use the harvesting, and I like the uber Camps (Not to mention I don't want to grind Camping XP again). I guess I'll have to be content with TKM, Some Ranger, and Artisan Skills so I can run my resource harvesting Business. I hope someday I'll have a reason to try and master this profession again. Good luck to you all, I'll miss you.

wow....

Thats so funny... I decided to do master ranger last weekend and then when i got through scout and started looking I decided to only take the trapping(traps are useful to me as a swordsman; need the states) and tracking (of course) lines...

29 sp for pretty camps and a weak group maskscent just wasnt making sense to me...

wonder how many "2-tree" rangers there are out there

Actually, I believe "1-tree" rangers (tracking) are more common, or at least they have been in the past.

Out of the decimated ranger population id have to say:

  • 20% - 0,0,4,4 - Trapping Hunters

  • 30% - 4,0,4,0 -Hunting Hikers

  • 40% - 0,0,4,0 - Hunters/Dabblers

  • 2% - 4,0,0,0 - The Hikers (the not so smart sp wasters j/k)

  • 3 % - MASTERS - The Few. The Forgotton. RANGERS FOREVER!

  • 5 % - Grinding/Other - The holo'ers or 'to-be-masters

I hear ya, I did the same thing - note my signature. I assume you mean you're going to KEEP Tracking? That's really the only tree that does anything at all.

My guesses were exactly that guesses. No facts, just the impression i get from my server.

I would expect the ranges to vary considerably from person to person based on their playstyle and from server to server

I think he means he's dropping the wayfairing, not tracking (as he references the increased harvests)

And how come I'm not on the chart:

0-4-4-0 - I'm the "hunter, wanna-be-master-if-they-ever-make-it-useful-and-don't-want-to-do-frontiering-over-again-so-I'm-keeping-it-plus-I-just-like-to-annoy-people-by-dropping-useless-humongous-camps-on-their-front-lawn" ranger.

The funny thing is that I've met several 0-4-4-0 rangers. I went hunting with another one last night in fact

From my experience:

master ranger = uncommon

0-0-4-0 = most common

4-0-0-0= never met one

0-4-0-0 = never met one

0-0-0-4 = never met one

x-x-4-x = next most common (some random combination of tracking plus a few other skill points carelessly wasted while in the process of determining how useless those other branches of the tree are. A temporary state, usually remedied by dropping ranger altogether a week later).
