Thread: player tracking question, please read.
As long as the player is outside, and by player I mean person player, not NPC, the max range is 500m. Actually tracking players is easy and areatrack seems to work best on this. Of course, should the player duck in a building, gone from areatrack.
I do it all the time. Scares the Imps to get hellos in tells from people 300 meters away - especially when I name the entire party.

500m radius...therefore anyone in an area of 785398 square meter area. (using A=pi*radius^squared)

They are inside though this only works on people outside.
